152/3.71/F URM
Posted in the Regular Forum, but decided it would be good to post here as well. I am trying to get into OSU, I am a current Ohio Resident. Retaking the LSAT on Saturday, so hoping the score will improve.
What are my chances?

According to LSN they have a 49% acceptance rate and in the 14-15 cycle accepted two people with similar GPA's who scored a 149 on the LSAT.

I'm in a really similar boat a you. I'm FEMALE AA 152 3.5 and I really want to go to OSU too. Also in state. On my thread, a lot of people told me retake and go T-14 and its such an annoying thing to be told constantly when you know thats not what you want. So i'm here to say I'm proud that you're retaking, but even with a similar LSAT score in February, I think you'll be okay. I have networked extensively with the school and did their Minority Recruitment Initiative in November (were you there too??) and I have very strong softs and I feel confident that I will get in. I applied 10/29 RD and still haven't heard back. Your GPA is better than mine and you will likely do better when you retake so I think your chances are really good!Maroon712 wrote:Posted in the Regular Forum, but decided it would be good to post here as well. I wasn't at the event in November, but I am attending another diversity event at the end of February. I did go to the open house in October, as well. My softs are decent: Summer jobs, few campus orgs. leadership positions, research position, and volunteer experiences. I just applied a few weeks ago with retaking the LSAT, so you are in a better position than me with getting that application in early! Getting told to retake all of the time is REALLY frustrating, so I definitely see where you are coming from...especially because I know I want OSU. Good luck to you, and hopefully I'll see you at Moritz in the fall!

URM male here just wanted to say that the retake stuff isnt neccesarily about going to a different school, retaking could get you into OSU for free. Its totally fine is for whatever reason you want to go to a specific school just dont take out a bunch of debt if you dont absolutely have to. Im saying this as an AA urm who got a t14 full ride with a much worse gpa than both of you and i still retook in february because "why the hell not, its always good to have options".Maroon712 wrote:grizzlybear111 wrote:I'm in a really similar boat a you. jnwa, you retook a 173? I mean, its your $170 and your time, so knock yourself out, but what do you think you'll gain with a higher score that you don't have already?
I tutor the test and I think that the disconnect about being advised to retake the LSAT has a lot to do with how intimidated folks are by the test. If you are not adequately prepared, the whole thing can seem like an experience in exquisite torture. But, the truth of the matter is that if you are smart enough to come out of college with a 3.7, you are definitely smart enough to get at least a 165 on the LSAT. Getting to 165 will take a lot of time and diligent hard work, but I promise it will pay off.
And, the scholarship point is real. Being able to go to your top choice for free is absolutely incredible. To have only a 4 hour exam stand between you are hundreds of thousands of dollars would make the decision for you, I'd think.

Re: 152/3.71/F URM
I actually registered to retake because my Gpa was trash and I really wanted to get into Harvard/better money at CCN. I ended up finding out i got the Darrow after it was too late to get my money back. Also I tutor as well so I was basically studying this whole time. My point was that , while most people don't like the LSAT as much as I do, and thats understandable, there's no risk to retaking just reward. If I score a 120 on the Feb test nothing changes.fliptrip wrote:jnwa, you retook a 173? Makes sense. I was PMming with someone on this and I'm curious to know what you think. I've never seen a single URM get a Hamilton. What kind of stats do you think a URM would need to get a Hamilton? I think they may need the same numbers as a non-URM.

Re: 152/3.71/F URM
I think so as well. There's a 3.9 174 aa male who got into Yale but no Hamilton. That makes sense if they expect it to be the same as non-urms 3.9ish plus 176ish. Of all the named full rides the Hamilton seems to be the most numbers centric.fliptrip wrote:Makes sense. I was PMming with someone on this and I'm curious to know what you think.
