AA male,
2.85 GPA (final GPA on undergrad transcript but I transferred schools), double-major in Finance and Economics. No excuse for the low-grades but my mom (single mom, no siblings) had cancer throughout my undergraduate career and my main focus was on taking care of her throughout chemo and other treatment, so admittedly my grades suffered). I have two-years of experience as a credit analyst/underwriter at a well-known bank. I'm not sure how much weight that would hold in the admissions process.
I'm taking the LSAT soon, what score should I target to give me a shot at getting into a decent school? Will my previous experience hold any weight regarding admissions? I want to work in the Northeast. What schools should I aim for?
2.85 GPA, Finance/Econ degree, aiming for Law School? Forum

Re: 2.85 GPA, Finance/Econ degree, aiming for Law School?
Aim as high as possible on the LSAT. Aim for a 180 but anything above 165-170+ would help mitigate the low GPA. So I'd put all my effort into LSAT prep and take the LSAT when you are confident you can do well. the designation "decent" is up for debate, but conventional wisdom dictates that you want to have concrete goals for what you want to do before deciding about schools you want to aim at, like say you wanna do BigLaw, you probably want a T14 or some school in that range
