Do African-Canadians fall under URM?

Post by loras » Wed Nov 18, 2015 10:42 pm

I am currently in my junior year and planning to apply to T14 schools in the US next fall. I am wondering whether I'd be considered a URM even though I am Canadian...
I'm originally Ivorian and Sudanese. I immigrated to Canada from Sudan when I was 11 years old. Thanks in advance!

Same situation as you African-Canadian, moved to canada around age 10. You get the boost, plain and simple. I only have one t14 acceptance so far but i wouldnt have gotten it this early without the boost.

I'm also an African Canadian, graduated from McGill a couple years back and am applying to all T-14 schools this cycle. I was born and raised in Canada but my parents are from Central Africa. It is my understanding that we also receive the AA boost although I didn't know that until I submitted all my apps :P.
