I think you will be fine. I won't risk a retake unless you are consistently scoring above a 175. You may consider writing a short addendum (just a couple of lines) if you wish to do so. You will be ok. Now if you retake for a lower score than 169, it will look bad. As if you had gotten the higher score by chance.cc1012 wrote:June 2015: 169

I'm way too scared to retake in December haha
I would apply to the every T14 that will give you an application fee waiver. Plus any of the ones that won't, but would be a top choice.lolRCscrewyou wrote:Hey all!
So glad I found this thread. This is my 1st time applying and I'm not sure where I should apply/the prospects of actually getting in.
I'm
Biracial: White and Mexican-American
LSAT: 165 (not too happy with this, but I'll make it work)
GPA: 3.80 (Went to a Top 40 University if it matters)
I have great job experience, but no leadership roles in on-campus activities. One of my jobs required I be a leader of the community I lived in though.
What do you all think? Should I go for T-20 schools? T-10 even? Or play it safe? I have limited funds so I can't apply to 20 schools.
Any advice is VERY appreciated!
I'm pretty similar to yourself: Mexican American Male, 3.47 and 167 LSAT.beckett wrote:Long time lurker - this website has been an enormous help. PR female, 3.5gpa and 166 on the lsat. Hoping to get my apps submitted to T14 by the end of November and fairly nervous but it's great to see such a welcoming community!
I wouldn't recommend it - EDing really takes you out of the money game. Schools have no incentive to give you money, since you've told them they are your number one choice and you can't force them into a bidding war. What's your rationale for applying ED?How do you all feel about ED'ing as a URM, as a AA Male URM more specifically? Really considering it and wanted to get some feedback
Wow, congratulations on everything you've accomplished. But I'm surprised, you turned down H for NYU ? Is that at all common, or are you unique in making that choice?alloverthat wrote:2014- 2015 cycle URM here now at NYU. Also got into HCC UVA, Duke. Happy to take any questions. Good luck everyone!
Those of you talking about ED-ing, I wouldn't. You're in a good position as a URM, and it's not clear that EDing really makes much difference to other than a negative one your scholarship amount. Then again I didn't ED, so someone else might be in a better position to speak to this.
Of course!tvu wrote:alloverthat wrote:2014- 2015 cycle URM here now at NYU. Also got into HCC UVA, Duke. Happy to take any questions. Good luck everyone!

I would also love to hear how your experience has been at NYU or NYC in general, thus far. Also any chance you'd want to share your stats? You got into some amazing schools, congrats!

Do you mind telling us your score?
Congrats, may I ask what your numbers were like applying?
I think NYU is fantastic, but don't have anything to compare it to of course. I've met hardly anyone I actively dislike, my professors are great, the workload is tough but manageable and I live in a really fun place! People who say that you don't really get to enjoy the city are sort of right, in that most days I'm either reading at home or in school. But that still leaves a couple of nights a week/some of my weekend to go to new places and eat good food and general fun stuff. That's starting to change as we get closer to finals, but it's still not like I never see the city at all. Price wise, I live off campus which has saved a lot of money as well.
This also kind of answers the other question. Honestly, I just really liked NYU. Visited for ASW and felt pretty comfortable here. H has a horrible rep for student QOL, and I didn't want to risk being miserable for three years. I also got a great scholarship, although I would have been eligible for significant need based from H as well.
I'm definitely not alone in making that decision (especially because NYU gives out quite a few named full rides/nearly full rides). Being only 2/3 of a semester in I have no idea if I made the right choice long term, but I'm definitely happy here!
I would apply to Stanford if I were you.mindatwork wrote:Checking in! I can't believe I didn't find this thread earlier, but I'm happy I finally did.
My quick personal rundown:
-Multi-racial (White/Black/Hispanic/MA) Female
-3.56 GPA (Ivy League)
-172 LSAT
-Softs: Academic Honors on Thesis, 2 years of Research Jobs (one PT, one FT), Law Clerking
I was feeling pretty nervous about my T14 law school chances until my October LSAT (because my June LSAT wasn't great). I'm applying to every T-14 except for Stanford and Yale, and a few others like UCLA, Emory, BU, William & Mary, etc. I'm more confident about my ability to be accepted at a T1 school now, but I'm hoping someone will throw me some money.
I'm planning to send in my apps the weekend of November 20th (provided my LoRs show up on time), though I'm having a hard time retooling my diversity statement. This whole law school process has made me stressed about my racial identity in a way I haven't been in a long time, probably because it is central in my reasons for applying to law school. I'm not used to interrogating my heritage this much!
Good luck everyone! Hope everybody has successful cycles.
Really? From my understanding, they're less forgiving of a GPA below-median even with URM status. But I could be wrong.fips tedora wrote:I would apply to Stanford if I were you.mindatwork wrote:Checking in! I can't believe I didn't find this thread earlier, but I'm happy I finally did.
