Help me Y'all! :D

Post by Benjaminnn » Sun Oct 26, 2014 2:51 am

Ok guys first post... I need some advice.

Got my LSAT score, and I scored a 163.
My GPA is a 3.6.
Went to UCLA...I've served for AmeriCorps for three years at an inner city YMCA.

And I'm am Mexican/African American...

Here's my issue.. I was scoring at least above a 165 consistently on my practice tests... I know I can do better.

My dream school is Harvard but I really want to continue and go to UCLA Law school.

So should I re-take in December?
My only concern is applying later (If I keep this score, I'll apply by Nov. 15th) will hurt me a little bit...

And lastly do I apply to schools with my 163 score and notify them I am retaking I'm November?

So confused. Lol any advice would be awesome. :P

With your GPA, if you could score another 4-5 points, you should be good for Harvard.

Thanks for the response!! :)

So, applying in January wouldn't hurt that too much?

It will hurt less than applying without a better retake.

Thanks for the help.. You guys are the best.

Last question, should I apply earlier with the 163, and update after my new score... Or no?

Apply to peer schools to leverage scholarships even if you're not interested in attending (UT, Vandy, etc.) and update UCLA with your new score when you get it. Good luck!

Cool, thanks a lot.

I guess I'm just a little confused about applying with my current score, and updating with my new score.
I've read that when applying they'll see that I'm taking the December LSAT and wait till that score is final to review... So does applying earlier with my current score make a difference, since they most likely won't review it until the later score?

Lol thanks again

If nothing else it will give them time to process the rest of your application and make sure it's all set. If there's anything missing or they lose something, w/e, you can sort that out ahead of time. That way, as soon as you get your Dec. score and send it to them, they can start making a decision rather than processing it then.
