Retake for 165+ and enjoy HYS or T-14 with money is TCR.

Also, apart from HYS, schools "Look" but dont care much about previous tests, unless the score is 145-175, then they'll want some kind of explanation.

Your 158-161 wont hurt you.

Definitely retake. You have everything to gain and very little to lose. I think if you get in the 167+ range on your retake, you'll get at least one of HYS and big money elsewhere in the T14. 170+ and you're looking at full rides at CCN and probably your pick of HYS.

I would use the extensive LSAT prep resources on this site and maybe take a prep class this summer/fall. I bet you can bump up your score significantly if you study your butt off and the payoff will be well worth it. I wouldn't retake until you're absolutely ready, though. Even if you have to wait until December, it would be better to take it then and knock it out of the park than rush to be ready for September and only do marginally better than you did on your previous takes. A 3.8+/170+ AA male is a very rare commodity and, thus, highly sought after. As such, applying in January or applying in October probably won't make a huge difference.

Good luck!
