I know on many apps there is a place where you can write in that you are taking a future lsat (not an addendum like right in the application). Your schools will just put your app aside so I don't think there is much difference from each date because they don't review your app until everything is in.

Although I do remember seeing once where a school (dont remember where) gave an acceptance before the retake.

I say apply to top-20 now and re-take the exam.

I went to a T-10 school with a few points higher on the lsat and GPA.
