Retaking 169?
I am a Mexican American currently in undergrad at a school ranked around 30 by US news. I have a 3.84, and just got a 169 on the October LSAT. My extracurriculars are relatively weak, and I was banking on getting between 173-175 to compensate for that. I would appreciate any opinions on my current chances at various T-14s, and how much they would improve if I got, say, a 173 and applied a month later.

There's no shame in retaking.
You'll still have options but if you were PTing at a higher level, I would retake.
I don't think applying early in the cycle gives that much of an advantage anymore.

Re: Retaking 169?
Retake if you think you can score better. I'm also MA and have very similar numbers to you and I got a 168 in June. I knew I was capable of much better and got a 173 in October. Don't fall into the URM trap of being content with a slightly lower score just because you get a boost. A couple more points and you can be looking at virtual guarantees at all but a few schools in the country.

Yes, I applied this cycle. Also, could you guys confirm that my new score will automatically be sent to the schools to which I have already applied? Obviously I want to make sure they see my February score before making a decision, so do I have do notify them or will my file be updated automatically?

It's automatic. Even before you got your score, the schools knew you were taking it again. BUT a new score could be a good opportunity for en email LOCI if you have something else to mention. It'll at least let you confirm for yourself that the admins have your new score.oredroc27 wrote:Yes, I applied this cycle.
