Silly URM question.
I feel it must be asked though; better to look like an idiot now than later when it counts. The June LSAT wait coupled with the SCOTUS ruling nonsense is making me super anxious lol.
AA male here. Here's the question: The only thing that I have to do to indicate that I am a URM to the law schools I apply to is simply to bubble in the AA Box in the personal info section, right? Is there some random form or something I have to fill out online, etc... ?
Also, what's the deal with diversity statements? do I have to do one?

Re: Silly URM question.
Last year, a couple schools didn't even let me attach a diversity statement. I think you're fine just checking the box on the application section/perhaps also including a subtle line in your PS.

You should calm down. It's out of your hands. Your goal should be 180.

Which schools are we talking about here? I may have to revise my personal statement because of thistwentypercentmore wrote:Last year, a couple schools didn't even let me attach a diversity statement. Re: Silly URM question.
I never felt like the application was limiting my ability to express my URM status -- if I was forced to check "Hispanic" rather than being able to check the MA box, then I was able to attach my diversity statement. If I wasn't able to attach a diversity statement, on those applications, I could check the "MA" box and be done with it.Amicus_Curiae2013 wrote:Which schools are we talking about here? I really wouldn't worry about it too much. If a school doesn't care about your diversity statement, I wouldn't re-write a PS just to make sure you show off your diversity.
To actually answer your question... I don't remember.

Sorry to be late to the party, but I would never just leave it at a checked box to indicate to an adcomm what about being URM has influenced my experience/perspective on things. I see the DS as a chance to give the adcomm more reasons to take you--I'd never pass that up.

To actually answer your question... I don't remember. There were definitely at least two T14 schools that did not have a place on the application to upload a diversity statement.

Re: Silly URM question.
Based on the apps I submitted last year, it looks like Yale, UVA, UCLA, UChicago, and UC Berkeley didn't take diversity statements on their applications.
More than I remember, honestly.
