recommenders

Post by bands2014 » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:28 pm

Hey everyone, just recently joined TLS, but I've been a long time lurker. I'm looking to apply for Fall 2014

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know how to deal with recommenders who are bad with deadlines. I really like my recommenders and feel that they can write me the best recommendations, but they tend to be pretty bad with deadlines and getting things back to me in a timely manner. I don't want to constanly hound them for the recommendations, but I also don't want to deal with going complete late because they failed to do something on time.

How can I be forceful about the deadlines, but not sounds like a jerk?

Just give them an earlier deadline than the real deadline. They'll never know (or care).
