I would spend a lot of time sifting and searching this website. There is a lot of good info for LSAT prep. I would also add all of the Manhattan books to your prep materials.

Yale is very difficult for anyone to get. Realistically, your best shot will be Harvard followed by Stanford. Your GPA is sky high though, so you have that part taken care of. Now comes the difficult part with the LSAT.

BTW: I'm glad your dream isn't Yale because no one who's serious can predict with any certainty who's getting in that joint!

Enjoying the logic games on the LSAT is not a weird thing. It's a good sign. Folks who do the best, in my experience, say they come to enjoy the test.

Me, I am glad I never have to look at it or another LSAT prep book again.

Hello TLS,
Long time lurker, first time poster and I am excited to be applying for this upcoming 2013-2014 cycle. I’m currently a political science major at a state university in Texas with a 3.90 gpa and I’m URM status (AA-male). I would like to attend anywhere in the top 14, even UT given the low in-state tuition, if I can get my LSAT score high enough to do so. My absolute dream is to study law at Harvard. So, the last day of school is mid-May and I have the entire summer to study for the October test. I have the LRB, LGB, all the “official 10” preptests and I plan to take the most recent preptests as well. Since I have been in school, I really haven’t participated that much in school activities to help out with “softs” but some that I do have are:

Dean’s List
School Newspaper
Part-time Job-1.5 years
Organization officer
Honor Society
Academic Scholarships

Any advice on how to prep and tips to reach my goal would be greatly appreciated.

And you have decent softs... it's not like they expect everyone to save the world. You have work experience and you have school related extracurriculars, with an officer position... you'll be fine... just focus on the LSAT.

I don't even have the same GPA and besides 2 years of heavy work experience and volunteering, there's close to nothing else. I did join phi alpha delta for whatever that's worth.

If you bang out a 165 or even a 170, you probably wouldn't have to lose sleep over it.

I would definitely recommend the Manhattan study guides. I'm finding the RC and LR guides particularly useful. I will also be taking the test in October and my absolute dream school is Harvard. Time to work and make that dream a reality!

El Principe- I really hope that will be sufficient to get me accepted into H. I've just read how others have professional work experience in IB, masters or even PH.D degrees, and some are even Rhodes scholars. Although I know my softs won't be THAT good, I just hope what I have is good enough to reach my desired goal.

Gamine- Yeah. From what I've seen on TLS and amazon, the bundle seems to be a high quality prep guide for relatively cheap. Let's bust out a 165+ come October and enjoy H for class of 2017!

Manhattan is good but I liked the Logic Bibles more for both the logic games and the logical reasoning. What is great about the Manhattan materials is that you get access to all of the past LSATs. You should also google 7Sage. They put all of the logic games with someone doing them on their site for free. It'll help you get a sense of where you were messing up if you do games and then watch them go through the game. My advice would be to search this site - read those articles by people who scored perfect scores. If you want to approach that 170 you're going to need to take numerous, an insane number, of LSATs under real test conditions.

I got into Harvard and Yale - didn't apply to Stanford - with a 3.7 and 168, though I do have some good softs. But you can knock out the LSAT if you've earned a 3.9. And if you have time read the Logic Bibles and the Manhattan guides, I found some technique in Manhattan was more time efficient than the Logic Bible but vice versa as well.

I don't know about that, haha, but OP is definitely in a great position. With that GPA, I'd say he's a lock at HLS with a 165. Good luck on the LSAT!
