I got a 167, but was PTing in the mid 170s the week before the test, so I'm pretty disappointed. I got crushed by the logic games section (-9 vs. -6 for the rest of the test) which was my weak point in practice.

I'd really like to go T10 and stay in NY/New England, but it seems like my best option may be to pack up and go back to TX (UT-Austin)

Should I retake? October is a bad date for me b/c of football but I'm hesitant to take the December date and be disadvantaged even more with the rolling admissions.

any help = +
Hard to say. You may get a fringe T14 applying right now, but it may be worth it to retake IF you can put the time and effort in to break 170. If you do that, you'll get some good bites + $$$, I'd wager.

Is it possible to apply with my 167, indicate that I'm retaking, but ask to be considered with my current app and if its a No, or W have them hold off until my new score? I guess what I'm asking is if they ever make two passes at an application.

This may be an absurd question, but I thought I'd at least ask it.

If I'm not mistaken, (it's been a while) law school apps ask for posted LSAT grades, and whether or not you intend to take another one, with a box asking for a tentative date.

I say you retake...but you can always apply, see where the chips fall, and reapply if you're not happy with the results.

So if you mark that you intend to retake, do they still consider your application at the time you submit it? If I apply to a school right when apps open and say I'm going to retake, but they would admit me with my current score, do they admit me, or wait?

Hmm Black Male from Yale plays football with a 167 I personally think your a lock for ccn probably out hys but it could happen but wouldn't be very likely i doubt they dip that low gpa wise. I think you could be looking at major money from the bottom half of the t14 imo.

Based on my cycle, I think the highest ranked school(s) you can prob get into will be NYU or/and Columbia (assuming the rest of your app is great). If you retake it will improve your admission chances but I doubt it would improve your chances at Stanford and Yale because of your GPA.

You have a shot at NYU, but almost all of the T14 is hard to predict because of your low GPA.

I would retake in December, take a year off, and reapply the next cycle. Better LSAT and work experience would help your application greatly.

Take the scholarship at UT regardless unless you somehow land Harvard.

Almost same numbers: AA Male 3.21/166 http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com/maroonurm

I got Mich ($108k), UT Full ride, NU, and NYU. If you retake, you're gold. Right now, tough to call, but T-14 w/ cash is still possible. Take the $$$ from UT and market it wherever else you get in. Good luck!

EDIT: You went to Yale and played sports, bro. You're going to get a bump for that. I think you'll do well. Just apply early and submit an airtight app.

Similar situation. African American male, 3.5 from an Ivy, then PhD, but 164 LSAT. Is it a pipe-dream to ed at Columbia?

Worth a shot.

Retaking would be a good idea too.

You'll probably get into Columbia--and you have a great chance at Harvard/Stanford as well.
