Hey everyone,

Just got my LSAT score back today and I'm pretty devastated, a 160. I was practicing higher than that the last few tests. I'm definitely retaking in October, but I wanted to hear what you all thought of my chances at a t-20 with my #s as is? And what do you think about ED somewhere? Thanks for the help.

I say yes on the T-20's. You are obviously above the 75th percentile for the GPA. Typically with URM they prefer that one of your numbers be above the 75th.

You're chances are ok with your GPA, but if you are really adamant about going to a T20, you should retake to strengthen your applications.

Where do you want to practice? Attending USC/UCLA/Texas/Washington (any of the three) won't really help you if you don't want to practice in their states (or return to a place you have ties to with WashU).

Raise LSAT by 5 more points and you will probably get some t14 bites.

Thanks for the replies. I'm a Texas resident, so does that make it any easier to get into UT? I plan on retaking in Oct. I see SMU is basically 157-165, so I figure I'm a wildcard there? I'd love anything in T-20 if possible. Just seeing where I'm at with current numbers. Thanks everyone

Don't ED anywhere unless you seriously can't get that LSAT up any further. I'd apply everywhere RD with a 166. If you're looking at 163 or so, maybe ED to NYU.

You do, but you're on the edge of the LSAT (About a 50/50 chance). Basically any increase will help you out drastically.

I think you have a pretty good chance of admission. I think you are in at SMU/UHLC/B with $$. Of course, a few more points would make a huge difference. Hit 167 and you are pretty much a lock at UT with some $.

This is really great to hear. I was freaking out when I first found out my score and didn't think I'd even get SMU. But after some research and hearing from you all, looks like I'd be ok there and possibly even get UT with some luck. My prelate advisor told me not to retake because I'm unlikely to significantly improve and that schools average scores. So if I get a 162 it's only a one point increase. I disagree

LOL, prelaw advisers.

That's cute. Schools (with the possible exception of Harvard, and even then...) don't average scores.

Also, it's fully possible, even probable, to increase upon a 160 with good study habits. Your prelaw person is full of it.

So would it be stupid to not retake? I scored +2 points higher several times during prac tests. So it's not like I never hit above 160

If you dont retake, you may regret it for the rest of your life. No need to be haunted by what ifs.

I got into UT with a 162 (also MA). I say one MA on LSN get in with a slightly lower GPA and a 160. So you have a chance but it's not the greatest.

Also make sure you apply to Boston U/C, Fordham, Notre Dame, etc. I used my BU $ to negotiate some money from UT.

I started at 142 and my final LSAT was 167 which was actually a disappointment. No reason you can't raise your score at least 5 measly point.

I took a full length Powerscore in class course. I really dont know where to go from here, to begin prepping for October. I was thinking an online course? I'm not sure if self-study will help me with that five point jump. I havent done any LSAT work since the June test, so who knows if I'm still even in the 160s. I'd like to think I am, though. Essentially, I'm concerned on how to go about LSAT prep this time, after having already taken the full length course (which is supposed to be the "big kahuna of prep"). Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That's an awesome GPA you've got there. I'm not an expert but I would think you'd get at least one T14.... I think.... And I feel the same way about the LSAT. Let's kill it in October.
