Re: 2012 Cycle... let's go!
Hello Everyone!
Native American/ Latino/ LGBT male here. Just switched from the June LSAT to the October LSAT. I am requesting my letters of rec. this week (before summer break); also, I am going to work on my personal statement this summer...in addition to studying for the October LSAT.
Born and raised in SoCal and want to stay/practice in SoCal. I want to focus on criminal law and someday become a DDA.

AA Male checking in, getting ready for that June LSAT. Primarily look at schools on the East Coast and Midwest, with an eye on a few schools in the Southeast.

AA female, taking the June LSAT and then hunting down some old teachers for LORs and starting my personal statement, hopefully between the two I'll be busy enough to not worry about my LSAT score all the time. Looking at schools everywhere but I'd like to be in New York.

AA Female here... taking LSAT in June... and likely again in October. I'm not pt-ing where I would like to, but I don't want to be in a situation where I underperform bc of 1st time test day nerves and only have December to make up for it. Look forward to this thread being a great resource for us all.

AA female checking in. Behind on the LSAT curve because I was a FT student with a FT job. But I am studying now (not as much as I should be) and I signed up for the PR course in August-Sep. Taking it in Oct. Hopefully I won't need to take it again in Dec. Everything else is good to go.

Quick Question: Is anyone reaching out to alumni for LORs?

AA male here. Like several of you, I've been lurking these forums for a while (a long while), contemplating whether or not law school make sense for me. I finally decided that it did, and I'm planning on taking the LSAT in Oct. and applying during this upcoming cycle. Best of luck to you all!

Re: 2012 Cycle... let's go!
I'm wondering how much this helps. In my case, I work full time in a law office with two attorneys that graduated from my dream school, but don't have a relationship with either of them. Because of my office's weird dynamics and because I'm generally bad at networking, I'm not sure how important it is for me to try to formulate a relationship for LOR purposes (especially with tls users going on and on about how little they matter).727813 wrote:Quick Question: Is anyone reaching out to alumni for LORs?

What's up everyone...AA Male here planning to test in October. LOR are in and because I just recently learned that I have OCD when it comes to law school, I'll be looking over the PS I've had for about a year now. I plan to take a TestMasters prep course because I am not as structured as you all. I need more guidance and a lot of instruction. Looking forward to hearing and partaking in this thread's success.

AA Male checking in.
Currently putting in 25hrs of studying a week. Going to push to 35-40 starting June 1st. Took my diagnostic (153) the day after I graduated and have rarely taken days off ever since. Signed up for the Oct test, still waiting on rec's and should probably get moving on my ps.
I have been abnormally excited about this whole process and strangely enjoy studying. Lets get it.

Oh man...This makes me feel sooooo lazy. I just graduated a week ago and am taking in October.... But I decided I would take the rest of May off... Does that make me a bum, haha?jt_thomas24 wrote:AA Male checking in.

Hey guys... I guess I'm checking in? Although I feel like this is a bit too early. Oct LSAT. Applying mostly to schools in the Midwest, East, and perhaps a couple of schools in the West (which is where I'd love to be short of one school in the East). If anyone is interested in having some study session together online, lemme know via PM.

Me. I deferred for fall 2013 start, so I am eager to watch all of the cycle hysteria from an outsider's perspective.

Kinda random but has anyone else been using LSP to see their chances at some schools. Does anyone know how accurate it is with URM splitters? I'm an AA male with a sub 3.0 gpa and a 170 lsat.

Re: 2012 Cycle... let's go!
From the stats I have seen LSP has proven to be pretty accurate; particularly in favor of URM splitters with number like yours. Supplement those with a strong PS and solid softs and your sky is the limit. I'm looking for an LSAT score in that range so the partying that bludgeoned my 3.6+ Gpa can still be good memories and not regrets.gsean2013 wrote:Kinda random but has anyone else been using LSP to see their chances at some schools. Re: 2012 Cycle... let's go!
I also have been lurking on TLS for ages, and now I'm finally ready to get this show on the road and get started with law school.
I am kinda burned out on LSAT prep. I have hit the wall with logic games and I pretty much just give up on them. Luckily I really do well on Logical reasoning and Reading Comp, otherwise I'd just give up altogether.
Im amazed by those hitting 170! Serious competition in this thread!

Stop using LSP to predict your chances if you are a URM because it does not factor such boosts. Use Lawschoolnumbers.com and check out URM's cycles.

Re: 2012 Cycle... let's go!
Checking in. AA female with sub 3.0 GPA so hoping to be a super splitter after taking the LSAT in October. I finally found the people that will be doing my LOR for me so I'm working to get those done ASAP so that I can spend the summer working on my personal statement. The goal is to send out my applications the minute I get my scores back since apparently splitters have a better chance the earlier they apply.
Is anyone willing to PM the format they used for their resume? I haven't updated mine since junior year and I have no idea how to go about fixing it.
