Re: URM 2012-2013 Cycle... let's go!
Hey y'all!
This thread has been super helpful, so I figured I'd check in. As a result of applying very late, my cycle still appears to be in flux.
Hispanic URM
173
3.5
In:
NYU $
Northwestern $$
Waitlist:
Duke - PR
Georgetown - PWL
UCLA
Pending:
Columbia
Harvard
Michigan
Penn
Stanford
Virginia
The waitlists are a bit disconcerting as I am seriously debt averse and don't know if I can stomach around 180K in loans even at a T6. Is it possible these schools are playing YP games, and I could get off WLs with $ with strong LOCIs?
Also, do y'all think that I missed the JS1 train by applying so late (went complete 3/18) or did I never really have a shot at H in the first place with my gpa?

GULC and Duke are YPing the hell out of you.
Enjoy HYS or CCN with $$. 173 URM with a 3.5+ should be golden to be honest.
Are you MA/PR or other Hispanic?

And that's encouraging to hear. Those WLs had me a little down these past few days.

Don't let these WLs get you down! I think it's total YP.Aporia88 wrote:Hey y'all!

I highly doubt you've missed any JS1 trains. I have the same complete date and a much weaker LSAT and got a JS1 earlier this week. High GPAs are much easier to find than URM 173 LSATs. I agree w/JRR, patience will bear fruit.
Out of curiosity, why no Chicago? You've got NU and M on your list, so you're clearly not averse to Chicago or the midwest.

Figured I would let everyone know where I stand in case it helps anyone.... I feel like my cycle hasn't turned out so great, but who knows what's to come (at least that is what I keep telling myself) :/

This is actually pretty non-unique. If you look at mylsn, URMs with your numbers rarely get into Penn or UVA.jsjd1989 wrote:Rejected: Penn, UVA, Georgetown

Welp, I broke into the Top 14. In a Cornell. Not sure if I can give up all this money BU is throwing at me, but that's another post.

It's been a decent week for me so far... in at Duke and BU. Hoping not to get an email from HLS today, as several have.

Congrats on acceptances guys, and the JS1 GW!
I had an interview with Chicago this week. I am UR3, so I hope I get a decision today.
Also will be withdrawing from a bunch of schools so spots can open up for those who really want to go there.

Thanks for the confidence! I certainly have my fingers tightly crossed for JS1, but still cannot help fearing that it's getting a little late in the game.dawyzest1 wrote: Don't let these WLs get you down! I think it's total YP.

As for Chicago, I visited a friend there a couple years back and the whole school kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Since then I could never really picture myself being happy there, but in retrospect, I probably should have shot them an application anyway.
edit: And congrats to PR and Man on the acceptances and GW on the JS1! Maybe they're not done shooting off interview requests after all.

Dinged at NYU, not unexpected but it still stings a little. Sending LOCI's over the weekend to the schools I'm waitlisted at so I can hopefully hear back from them sooner.

Re: URM 2012-2013 Cycle... let's go!
Thank you. I got my interview invite last Friday and interviewed on Tuesday. I think Chicago is picking up the pace by forgoing interviews for those with high numbers since a bunch of people without interviews got in today.GW1010 wrote:Congrats Bosmer and TXdude! I'm not going. I have to work on my senior essays (I have 2 because I hate myself apparently).bosmer88 wrote:Congrats txdude! By chance, are you going to ASW at Columbia next week?
