URM AA applying T-14
GPA: 3.86 and LSAT: 169. Solid softs. I'm applying T-14 but only got my apps in the first week in Jan. How much of a disadvantage have I incurred because of the tardiness? If I get into NYU or Chicago I'll be happy and won't really give a shit about whatever else happens.

I think UChicago's twitter said they were done making decisions.

What kind of urm are you?
You're not at a significant disadvantage either way.
Nevermind: I guess you're AA. You're good. You'll probably get mixed results but end up with an acceptance within T6.

Didn't cancel my first score, which was a 161 in Oct - hoping that doesn't do me in either.
And why would Chicago let people still apply if they're done with decisions?

I did.
And if Chicago's indeed out of the picture, and HYS a fighting chance at best, NYU is looking like my intersection between best shot and best fit. A visit might be in order.

Chicago isn't out of the picture, but that's irrelevant. You have a pretty good chance of getting into at least one of HYS.Thurgreat marshall wrote:I did.And if Chicago's indeed out of the picture, and HYS a fighting chance at best, NYU is looking like my intersection between best shot and best fit. You shouldn't settle for anything less than T6. You may have to ride waitlists and such but I even doubt that.

Check out this (different numbers but he applied later than you)

There are many more others.
You may be waitlisted at other T14 schools though. Don't be discouraged. Self-esteem issues on their part, nothing personal. In fact you have a pretty good chance of getting waitlisted at Chicago but you'll get into at least one of HYS.

Um, just to set this all to rest, UChi was talking about being done making decisions on that batch of applications. As one of the people in said batch, everyone was told (Friday the 13th this month) whether they were waitlisted, accepted or rejected assuming they applied by a certain date. It created quite a bit of pandemonium on the TLS thread, but yeah. They're not DONE done. They were just done for the time being.plaiseadieu wrote:Transferthrowaway wrote:I think UChicago's twitter said they were done making decisions.

^ This. Those tweets referred to applicants who went complete Sept - Nov.clarion wrote: Um, just to set this all to rest, UChi was talking about being done making decisions on that batch of applications. Also, Harvard seems to have held a good number of URMs. Could be a good thing for late applicants like you, since you'll be considered with a lot of the people who submitted before you. I have very similar numbers and was held, fwiw.

Congratulations! I know an AA female with similar numbers (same LSAT, slightly higher GPA) who was admitted to every school from Yale on down. You've got more great news coming.
