Funny that you asked about these schools. I have checked out both of them. In terms of cache, I would say that West Virginia has a better cache around the country then UB, which isn't saying much. I didn't see any URM at West Virginia when I visited there. I am not saying that they don't exist, but I didn't see any. I also saw a meeting of about 10 faculty members in a meeting room, none of which were Under Represented Minorities. Again, this may not be a random sample.

I also really didn't like the West Virginia facilities. Yes, it seemed to be steeped in tradition and history, with pics of professors and law school classes found on the walls and dating back many years. However, I honestly didn't like the law building. It was old and their court rooms were nothing special. In fact, I found them a bit musty. The pros of WV is that WV Law can be much less expensive than UB, especially if you establish WV residency, which is possible in later years. It is also the best law school in WV.

However, being cheap isn't aways good. For example, I was in their library researching tax materials. Their printed version of RIA ( Research Institute of America) dating back to 2009, which for tax materials, is totally unacceptable. I asked the librarian about it, and she noted that there there were some budget cuts which might have caused them to not renew the printed publication. However, she thought it was available online.

Moreover, newer books and newer updates are found behind the librarian's desk, which is a bit of pain to take out.

Bottom line: Really check out both schools. If you want to be in Maryland, UB would be better. If you want WV, I guess WV would be better. Either school frankly was unimpressive and somewhat depressing, which really surprised me about West Virginia. I really wanted to like them since they were so reasonable in price and were located right on the WV campus.

Baltimore all day bruh!! I mean really yeah WV is cheap but you got to look at the whole picture. Who are you going to network with down there? Do you really think those white folks down there are gonna stick their neck out for you when you need a helping hand? NO. Plus, as a black man, you are going to be completely out of your element. You know white people are not particularly inclusive people and if you end up being the only black dude, expect to be the MLK of the class and have to answer all questions regarding black issues. Off campus, do you see yourself really chillin with 5 or 6 white dudes? Do you have experience with white people in the academic setting? Then you already know that they will perceive you as the most inferior member of the group even though on paper that isnt true. Lets Be real man. I went to white schools but I was lucky to be in a black city. So for 6 or so hours a day, I played a role then when time was up, I could be myself.

Dont do that to yourself. Its going to be a long 3 years for you if you do. Go to UB and network with successful blacks in maryland and dc goverment and private sectors. By the time you graduate and pass the bar, you will have a contact list of people you can reach out to and identify opportunities. Go to WV and have to start over as soon as you graduate and thats if you graduate. What overwhelming white schools dont tell you is that the few blacks that come to those schools RARELY EVER finish there. There is a reason why.

I'm black and personally found your characterization of "white folk" unfair. I have plenty of white friends (fellow students) at my university and they have never made me feel inferior. However, I do agree that a homogeneously white school would be uncomfortable for OP. This "US vs. them" mentality of yours is unhealthy and a detriment to racial relations.
I have to say that you ppl kill me with these comments...really Detriment to Racial Relations?!?!? Usually I would never even respond to that but I'm so tired of black ppl acting like racism doesn't exist and its just in our head. PLEASE!!! Everyone has a little bit of racism in them and I respect folks more if they just freakin admit it!!! And it is us vs them...and them are winning cause they bring the rest of the them with them. Us don't...LOL

Sorry I'm getting off of my soapbox OP...lol

On second glance, guy's an obvious flame. I shouldn't have responded. What kind of name is "blackman1"?
