Too late? 3.5 and 167

Post by purplechowder » Sat Jan 08, 2011 1:33 am

AA female, 3.5 and 167. Average softs, I think. I'm only applying to HYS and probably can't get my apps out until late next week (still waiting for LORs to process and finishing my statements). Do I have a chance or is it basically impossible for someone with my stats this late in the cycle? Thanks!

Why are you placing all your eggs in the HYS basket?

I'll be honest with you: your chances of admittance to any of the above is significantly diminished given the timing and given your numbers. I would have said differently if your LSAT was 170+. As it stands, Harvard or Stanford might take a bite but they more than likely would WL, then Accept. I don't think Yale is in the running.

Any chance of you waiting it out until next cycle? It will give you enough time to perfect your application, gain work or volunteer experience, apply early and maybe even retake the LSAT to hit a 170+ score.

Timing is just as important as numbers, especially for URM applicants with good but not strong enough numbers for the T3. If I was you, I'd wait it out and apply early next year. Good luck!

Even if you applied early next year I think yale is out of the running.

Either stanford or harvard will definitely bite on your application.

Apply this cycle, if you're rejected it's not as though you can't reapply in october.

I'd rethink this strategy. Especially w/ those numbers.

As an African American female applicant, your LSAT score of 167 is very strong. Coupled with a 3.5 GPA, your LSAT and a well constructed application should bear more than one top 6 acceptance.

+1

I just hope she changes her outlook of ONLY applying to HYS. I think she should open up her net to CCN and MVP... to be more realistic.
