LGBT recruitment mailers and emails
Just got a mailer from GW. I've gotten emails from Hastings and Santa Clara. Santa Clara's came with a fee waiver for being LGBT. Does this mean LGBT carries more weight at these schools? The mailer from GW was a significant endeavorer... can't seem to think they'd do it if it doesn't carry any weight in admissions. I've heard Penn, Colombia and Cornell send similar mailers.

I wouldn't read too much into fee waivers.

Each fee waiver means they want to increase the number of applications they receive by one.
That's it. That's all it means. If it's a school you'd attend if accepted, then sure, go use it, but they literally mean nothing with regard to your chances of acceptance. They're a method of advertising the school and trying to increase the number of applicants (and especially diverse applicants, in these targeted situations), and receiving one has little to do with your odds of admission.

+1! I didn't bother to apply to yale, though, despite the fact that all my friends anecdotally describe it as the "gayest Ivy".er doctor wrote:I got one of these from Yale with a letter from a student from their OutLaw student group.

Where is one able to disclose their sexuality on LSAC for recruiters to view?

I didn't get any LGBT loving.
I am sad about this.
Unless they sent it to my permanent address, in which case I am in trouble. I don't have the guts to ask my parents, lol.

LOL, I didn't have another option for a permanent address. My parents' address abroad. Hoping most schools are too lazy to send intl mail.Eugenie Danglars wrote:One of the many reasons I didn't use my parents' address as my permanentapplepiecrust wrote:I didn't get any LGBT loving.

My address (and me) are abroad, and I haven't gotten any targeted mailings. Well, aside from the very snazzy Cooley/Seatle/St.Louis brochures.applepiecrust wrote:LOL, I didn't have another option for a permanent address. My parents' address abroad. I only remember getting specific stuff from Yale last year; either way I didn't apply as my numbers would not have gotten me in there. Instead I wound up at GULC, which has lots of gay 1Ls this year. FWIW.
