Ah true... I forgot. (You're Asian, right?)
The way you said it in your previous post just now made it sound like you are a URM paying sticker at MVP.

Where's the evidence for this? I'm not believing the hype...romothesavior wrote:D Broski, you're going to do fine man. You're going to a great school, and being a URM will give you a pretty sizeable grade cushion. It really is staggering how few AAs there are in biglaw, and with decent grades from a great school, I'm sure you will find your way into a top firm. You are a commodity in this industry, so long as you can pull grades
If anything, just use that debt as a motivator in law school. I plan to keep a framed copy of my loan report on my desk.

If there was quantifiable evidence of this, there would be a big pile of lawsuits. You should know this.hiromoto45 wrote:Where's the evidence for this? Remember you can only be a URM admit for so many years... until you become a diversity hire.

Waitlist movement has been very slow. Some schools like UVA and Duke are over enrolled. Chances of getting off a waitlist are lower than they were in the past (which even then was low).najumobi wrote:explain?Desert Fox wrote:Waitlists are a myth this year.D Brooks wrote:Whoa, I just remembered I'm still on their waitlist.YCrevolution wrote:So you'll be wearing your UChicago t-shirt to orientation, right?

Well Columbia's waitlist letter seemed rather optimistic. Harvard pulled quite a few from the waitlist, URM and Non-URM this cycle. But there has been no movement on the UChicago waitlist. I guess it depends on the school.

oh damn. this is very different from what many TLSers projected would happen--that b/c applicants applied to a lot more schools than normal schools would have a harder time figuring out the number of those who would enroll and thus use their waitlists more.Desert Fox wrote:Waitlist movement has been very slow. Can't your parents pay your tuition? Or are they still mad at you for that trip to the Rose Bowl you charged on their card?

My parents have always made it clear to my sisters and I that they'd cover our UG tabs but would be done after that. They were nice enough to agree to buy me a new laptop and cover all moving expenses though.

How is this fail? You are now, I'm sure, in the same boat as other applicants and students. Were you knocked down to the Land of Humility?D Brooks wrote:I got approved for my GradPlus loan from the govt the other day and my stomach turned looking at the 5 figure loan I'll be taking out yearly to go to law school. I'm not going to be sticker exactly, but my paltry scholarship still makes it seem that way.
Additionally, I'm having second thoughts about not taking the half-tuition scholarship I got at a lower T14.
Which URM are you?
