Current URM students taking Q's
Hopefully other current students can also provide their wisdom. I'll provide the distilled wisdom of the many students I've spoken to in addition to quite a few URMs out in the workplace. My perspective may have a T1 skew.

how has your 1L been? anything you wish you would've know going in? Do you have a job for the summer? If so, how'd you get it?

1L was fine I guess. I wish I'd know how time consuming making an outline is and that a proper outline should have nothing but applicable rules. Still holding out for a firm job this summer.newyorker88 wrote:how has your 1L been? anything you wish you would've know going in? Do you have a job for the summer? If so, how'd you get it?

Someone more famous for his stunts (such as the "Getcha Popcorn Ready" one above) than his actual playing ability.Kohinoor wrote:But I don't follow football! Who is this man??vanwinkle wrote:(Sorry, dude, but you know it's legit.)

1.How is OCI going for URMs at your law school?
2. Do they get multiple offers or is it a competition among urms for firm positions?

Re: Current AA URM student taking Q's
1. Reasonably well for the upperclassmen? Several people were hurt by the no-offers and such of this economy but many have found success as the year continued. Over the course of the year, several 2Ls and 3Ls who were unemployed at the start of the year have found firm, government and nonprofit jobs. Those who are still looking seem to be receiving substantial aid from OCS. If I were to make a conservative estimate, I'd guess that more than 80% of the URMs have firm/gov jobs.hiromoto45 wrote:1.How is OCI going for URMs at your law school?

2. Depends on grades and resume of course. It's definitely not a competition since there's never a sense that two people are competing for the exact same job. To the extent that there are 200 firms with 5 offices and only 30 URMs in your class, it's rare to even be applying to many of the same offices.

No idea. A few people are doing firm jobs, others are RAs, and others found gov jobs. There seem to be plenty of unpaid positions still available but far fewer paid positions. IP people seem to have an easier time of it.hubtubrub wrote:what are you doing this summer?

if your a URM but not into that whole BLSA thing is that a problem?
Are all the URM's very active in BLSA? Or do people do their own thing? I mean is it okay to do your own thing?

Insinuating that TO is more famous for his stunts than is playing ability is boarder line football blasphemy, imo. I mean, sure, he is a spectacle, but he is nonetheless an extremely talented player.vanwinkle wrote:Someone more famous for his stunts (such as the "Getcha Popcorn Ready" one above) than his actual playing ability.Kohinoor wrote:But I don't follow football!
