Waiting for 1L grades is infinitely worse. It is only downhill from here as far as anxiety and impatience go.LuBru wrote:I don't have any news... and it is making me crazy! Is anyone else more than a little obsessed with apps right now? It's like waiting for my LSAT score, but much much worse. Whenever I get a large envelope in the mail I freak out like it is an acceptance - but it's usually life insurance paperwork or something equally lame.
I think I got a little spoiled with that acceptance via Duke priority track so early. I'm still waiting for decisions from: Lewis & Clark, Berkeley, UCLA, USC, UT, UVA, Penn, Boston U, Chicago and Michigan. Uggg.
Sorry everyone, this post has no purpose except to vent and reassure myself that I'm not the only one who logs into EVERY status checker EVERY day. Sometimes twice a day, if I'm honest.

Seriously?? It seems like everyone else had their apps submitted MONTHS ago and my gpa is waaaay below the bottom 25. The only reason I applied to UVA and Duke is because they sent me a fee waiver...otherwise it seems like a waste of money this late in the game.

Re: URM 2010-2011 Application Cycle
A URM with a 170/3.0 shouldn't even think to apply to Illinois and Colorado, unless they're looking for the ultimate safety schools. If adequate funds are available, there is never, never a reason why one should not take a chance even this late in the game. Last year, there was 157/3.4 AA male who applied around this time in the cycle and got in everywhere up to Columbia. A lot of people, even I, told him not to expect too much but great things happened for him and I think he's now at Columbia with money. You can either wait a year and blanket the T14 with the advantages of early submission, or you can take a chance now. But please don't feel the need to limit yourself just because it's admittedly late in the game.rockies2 wrote:GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:Apply higher. You're in a great position. I promise you. I think it would be better for you to wait a year in order to maximize your chances of admission but just because its late, doesn't mean you shouldn't take that chance.rockies2 wrote:Thank you...I can start breathing again!

Re: URM 2010-2011 Application Cycle
Yeah as long as you have the money right now you should definitely apply and then reapply next cycle if you don't like the results. Good luck!GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:You're in a great position. Re: URM 2010-2011 Application Cycle
Does applying late harm URMs as much as other applicants? From the info I've seen on LSN and here, it's looks like URMs generally have their decisions rendered much later in the game.

It seems so for some schools (Stanford!)freon wrote:Does applying late harm URMs as much as other applicants? From the info I've seen on LSN and here, it's looks like URMs generally have their decisions rendered much later in the game.
