On MyLSN, only one URM (172 3.53) out of 13 over the past three cycles got accepted from the 3.3-3.5/170-172 range, which you should keep in mind if you're reapplying just for H and not retaking.

If you really want HLS it's worth another chance though, imo. It's only one more year off but it will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Logic, if you are an AA then that significantly changes your chances. Also, if you lower the LSAT range, you will find that more people with that GPA have been able to land HLS.

I do think that applying earlier will positively impact your cycle though.
I'm basically just looking for a job that I can work for the next year at this point. I would love to get Stanford too and I didn't apply there this time around so there are a lot of practical reasons I would try again next cycle. However, I have to admit that staying at my current job in retail for another year would be absolutely miserable, so if I can't land something soon I won't be happy at all.

I think you have a good shot if you reapply. I would just caution you against believing that H and S are sure things if you apply earlier. I don't know what's going on at Harvard this year (as my rejection letter would attest), but, in general, JS seems to be placing more weight on GPA than KB did. I don't have any non-anecdotal evidence to support this, but there seem to be a good number of URM splitters who got dinged and WL'd at Harvard when people with very similar numbers were accepted in previous cycles. It could be that this year's group of URMs is particularly strong, numbers-wise, or that there's some weird disconnect between the people with good softs and good numbers. But they've let in some people you wouldn't have thought they would (like 3.5/high 160s) and Heismaned some people with less than 3.5 and 170+. But then again an AA male was accepted with 3.45/169, so maybe it's just a coincidence.

I'm an AA male with a pretty significant socioeconomic disadvantage so I think that's the only reason I wasn't straight up dinged at H. I know nothing is for sure, and I could still be swayed if Harvard gets back to me or Columbia offers some $. It all just depends. The worst thing about applying late is everything being up in the air this late in the game, but I'll just have to make up my mind along the way like I've been doing so far.

Has anyone successfully increased their merit aid at Columbia by telling the financial aid office about another scholarship? I just got my award. I know I should be pleased about 50K but this is about how I feel ATM:

I have no experience with Columbia, but I'd be upset, too.

You deserve more.

Logic, sorry to hear that man. You know how I feel about your chances next cycle but it might also be worth it to take another look at your personal statement and go in a bold/whole different direction with it (of course I say this knowing absolutely nothing about your current personal statement)

WL at Stanford. I'll be riding it out.

I think that means my cycle is done. I'm not counting Northwestern because Image

Yeah I'm sure I can find a lot to work on with that as well. I would say my PS and DS were straightforward but not especially compelling.

And peeta, good luck!

Sorry for the DLS. I know the feeling.

I'll be working hopefully. Uchi is on the quarter system, so classes don't start until the last week of September. I'm probably gonna travel to the Bahamas and maybe Florida in late august. I really want to go to Hawaii, but I can't find anyone willing to fly that far and pay that much.
