Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
Ok friends, for those of us (i.e. me) who are worried about SEO, I looked over the dates in the last thread. The most movement (acceptances and dings)happened between April 19-22nd and there was a little break and then it picked back up May 1. May 4th was a day of dings and the thread completely stops on May 5th and picks up with questions about the next cycle (2013-2014)June 10th.
HTH!

I wouldn't be super worried about it especially since you already deposited. I imagine they already have the pool narrowed to a list of preferred candidates and they're just waiting to see where people deposit so that they can make sure they have a well-round class representing a few different schools. That's to say, they aren't waiting for any one person to deposit, but a bunch of candidates to deposit before executing a major wave of decisions. I might be more concerned for people who deposit closer to the start of May (i.e Me), because maybe, for example, they only want 20 people from the T6 and those spots were almost all filled up with people they notified in the first wave and now they're holding out for the indecisive superstar. Obviously idk exactly how it's done, but that's how I'd do it.
NOTE: Everything after the first sentence is pure speculation.

+1...especially if it came now so that it would give me a reasonable amount of time to make arrangementst-14orbust wrote:If I got an SEO offer I would be soo happy
Hopefully they are doing just what you said, reserving the people they want and waiting for deposits. If that's the case, you could get a quick turn around if you deposit later this month.EvMont wrote:

Ha! I fingers crossed it all works out, but I am STILL waiting on initial finaid offers from 3 schools. So, I'm a long way off from depositing.mandyjay11 wrote:

On a totally unrelated note, I am a bit concerned about UVA/ being a person of color/ super liberal there. Anyone else have similar anxieties? I visited Charlottesville and I felt comfortable, but a day-long visit is a lot different than spending 3 years at a school.

I didn't even apply at Duke or UVA because I had those concerns.

So I withdrew my App from all schools and two of my top choices wrote back basically saying "What can we do to get you to come" and now I'm all like
because I was finally becoming content with retaking and now I'm confused again

Ask for the amount of money that would change your mind about re-taking. If they refuse, retake!toshiroh wrote:So I withdrew my App from all schools and two of my top choices wrote back basically saying "What can we do to get you to come" and now I'm all like![]()
