Your flood of acceptances is coming. Schools just need a chance to see your amazing new LSAT score.Wormfather wrote:Grats, I'm starting to get a little lonely after almost two weeks of radio silence.anela00 wrote:I have had an incredible week so far. I think people in other threads have said you should cut back on the PTs (since they aren't as reliable a gauge anymore and since with a 167, you definitely have a firm grasp of the basics anyway) and that you should instead focus on drilling your weaker areas, while still doing occasional PTs to make sure you're still sharp for the areas you're already solid in.read2465 wrote:Here goes nothing. Or everything. I signed up for the February LSAT to get my 167 higher.
How in the world do I prepare after already taking every published test last time around? Oof.
Forgot to mention that my first score after taking the test on a whim four years ago was in the high 150s--I'm hoping a third take won't be given the side eye by adcoms.
Good luck!

In at Miami! Not as impressive as Stanford but I'm happy
Speaking of Stanford, I need to e-mail my dean because my dean's certification is the only thing missing from my Stanford application, I don't mind not getting in because of something I did or didn't do, but I do mind not getting in because he never sent in one piece of paper that says that I never did anything wrong.

Re: Stanford certification, SLS is sometimes known for having received items but not updating whatever status checker you have access to. Call them as well.

This is the second, but it's just as good as the first (but the first was pretty awesome). I'm still waiting to see if I got into their M.M. Music Business program too, I wish more schools offered something like that.BlaqBella wrote:Yay!! The first acceptance is always the sweetest (or so I hearPsib337 wrote:In at Miami! I'm gonna call Stanford in a few hours because everyone on TLS seems to say that they're really slow but my school is terrible with paperwork so it's just as likely to be something on my end (they didn't change my major for a year, one teacher never gave me a grade and then the class disappeared from my transcript, and I got billed for tuition twice one semester). Hopefully I won't have to go up there next week and get him or his assistant to fill it out.

Longtime lurker here who wanted to come out of the shadows. I just want to tell everyone congratulations on all of their awesome acceptances. I am really happy to see other people of color doing so well!

Dinged at Penn on Friday. Haven't gotten one acceptance yet. This has been totally tortuous. I know with my stats (166, 3.6-3.7, PR), I am definitely a gamble at most schools, but was hoping for at least one "yes" by now!!! Anyone know if there is truth to what people say about a lot of schools holding URMs until the end?

This is MOSTLY true for purposes of admitting the best URMs in the cycle. The closer the cycle gets to ending, is generally when borderline URMs receive decisions.jsjd1989 wrote:Dinged at Penn on Friday. Haven't gotten one acceptance yet. This has been totally tortuous. Almost identical stats (MA URM), almost universal radio silence since late November.jsjd1989 wrote:Dinged at Penn on Friday. Haven't gotten one acceptance yet. This has been totally tortuous. Guessing we'll get a wave of decisions in early/mid-Feb, or else in April.

It will all be OK. Hang in there. You will get some positive decisions soon.
My friend's situation is 3.51/163 African American/MA male. Excellent, superlative softs & essays. He got into Duke and NW but was WL'd by Cornell. Any prayers for the other T14?

Your friend is an inspiration to us all (in particular, me). I'm hoping to have a similar cycle minus the WL at Cornell.nigerian22 wrote:My friend's situation is 3.51/163 African American/MA male. Checking in 167/3.6 AA
I'm in at George Washington with 90k and waitlisted from Duke.
I blanked the T14 with the exception of Yale, and also added Emory as a "safety" of sorts.
I'm just mad nervous because I applied right after December LSAT scores came out (I retook in December, even though I shouldn't have because I didn't have ample time to prepare due to senior thesis, etc and only did one point better). I'm just afraid applying in January instead of November hurt me too much, even with the drop in applications this year.

Got into Temple this morning! If I don't get into any of my top choices I'll probably wind up going, it makes the most sense financially and I already know attorneys in town who've offered to help me out and my parents mention someone new every week who said they'd be willing to help me too.
Edit: Also in at Pepperdine, got in a couple hours later.

Congrats to all! Everyone seems to be having a good cycle. Got into NYU couple weeks ago and I am absolutely in awe. Realistically only waiting for H, S, Col and Chi to get back to me. Doubt I would go to another school lower than NYU now that I am in besides maybe Penn with $$$.
I wanted to ask you guys some input. I just got a great promotion at work and was wondering how I should go about informing the schools that have not made a decision yet to maybe tip the odds in my favor?
Thanks for your input!

Re: URM 2012-2013 Cycle... let's go!
Just got my first acceptance. Chapman called me and offered me a full ride. Very tempting due to it being right next to where my fiancé is at, but I hope my cycle leaves me with other offers. Very glad to get that first acceptance out of the way though
