Congrats! You too should come to UVA...MarshallMarshal wrote:This thread is just making me so happy. I'm really hoping some of us get to be classmates in a few months!
My cycle is going pretty well so far, but you all are killing it! I was pretty stressed because I applied pretty late (mid-late January) after waiting a few months for a letter of rec from my boss.

Hahaha! Yeah, UVA is definitely on top right now. We'll see how the YHS game plays out and if NYU will be generous, but I'm so impressed with UVA right now.

It's been 6 weeks since I've gone complete at most T14 schools and I've only heard back from Duke via priority. How long did it take ya'll?

Same boat as you. Almost 7 weeks since being complete at most schools. Only heard back from Duke, one safety school, and interviewed at Cornell.
Any one else heard that schools generally wait till the end of the cycle to make decisions on URMs, unless your a "shoe-in", as URMs generally make up only 20% of incoming class? And is it true that URMs generally make up the bottom 25% of the incoming class in terms of GPA and LSAT?

I don't think its a general rule anymore about schools waiting until the end to make their URM decisions. I think that the biggest lesson in URM admissions is to expect anything. The whole 25% thing is moreso true about LSAT than about GPA...for HLS on mylsn (add all caveats) the median GPA of URM admits is 3.79, which is higher than HLS' 25th %ile GPA of 3.75.aicampa wrote:strodriguez3 wrote:It's been 6 weeks since I've gone complete at most T14 schools and I've only heard back from Duke via priority. Not knowing what to expect makes me extremely anxious in this situation. Anyone have a clue as to when is the latest that regular admits have heard by? I can find data on the earliest acceptances but not the latest ones.fliptrip wrote:I don't think its a general rule anymore about schools waiting until the end to make their URM decisions. Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
When you go complete in January, that puts you on a general calendar to hear back sometime between roughly now and the middle of April. Just keep monitoring the forums here and see if people who went complete the same time as you are hearing back. If no one with your complete date has heard anything then you do not yet have any reason to worry.strodriguez3 wrote:Not knowing what to expect makes me extremely anxious in this situation. I don't know if I'll get Harvard (lol) but UVA is on the top of my list. I know I'm going to be taking on debt but with the scholarship they've given me, it is very difficult to pass up. Unless Harvard or Columbia gives me decent $fliptrip wrote:Congrats! Come to UVA. Duke shouldn't even be a consideration with the great money you have from UVA. Of course, you'll probably get Harvard, and as always, HLS closes the conversation. lolbellanoche2019 wrote:Update from today:

WUSTL (tbd)
UNC (45k)

NYU
Columbia
Berkeley (FR)
Cornell (interviewed)
Northwestern (Interviewed)
I'm leaning toward UVA at this point. I was extremely impressed with their law school from speaking with the DoA and the amount of money I received left me in awe. I may try to negotiate for a little more, depending on what Duke, UCLA, Georgetown offer me/if I get admitted to H. But the student life/employment prospects (aiming for work in the DMV/New York area) basically has me sold. I initially felt that my interest was Duke or Georgetown's to lose, but UVA totally swept me off my feet.

I applied to 7 of the T14 and went complete 1/4 - 1/7. I'm in at Georgetown (heard on 1/19), Columbia and UPenn (heard last week). I also did not interview. So I don't think there is a hard and fast rule here

Agreed, I wish there was some sense of the timeline but it's so up in the air. I applied at the end of January and went complete most places in the last week or two. So far I've heard from UVA, Cal, Duke (priority), NYU, and Columbia (but just for the interview. It was faster than I expected most places, but I think I'm probably going to be really waiting on the the rest of T-14 and checking statuses like crazy - though that has been no help at all.vorely wrote:strodriguez3 wrote:It's been 6 weeks since I've gone complete at most T14 schools and I've only heard back from Duke via priority. I just like to be wanted lol. The point about Harvard liking reverse splitter URM's is really good though. Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
Hey guys - there's been so much good news in this thread lately that I just wanted to write a quick little note. Applied to a little more than half of the T-14 and so far have been accepted at Duke and NYU, held at Northwestern, and waiting to hear back from all the rest. However! NYU was the reach/dream school and my first choice, so when I got in yesterday it was pretty unbelievable. I'm still in shock. Anyway, I've been a pretty big lurker and I couldn't have gotten in without all the advice and support on this thread. Thanks everyone!
