Penn seems historically rough for URMs according to myLSN. I mean, with a 3.5/163, you are still below both medians and Penn isn't exactly known for being holistic. If anything, they're one of the major hard numbers T14s, which is probably why they YP more than almost another school save Michigan and UVA.

Still, with such a limited number of AAs to go around a straight up ding is really weird. Any glaring weaknesses - bad LOR, unexplained gaps in resume or education, C&F issues - could've done the trick. Though if that were the case Berkeley, GULC, or Michigan would've picked it up as well I would think.

Tough break. Hopefully the rest of your cycle goes well.

Even still. In the 3.4-3.6/166-169 range, Penn has the lowest URM acceptance rate of the entire T14 (except for Yale, but the % is close). And most aren't wait listed, they're straight rejected.

Wouldn't worry too much if I were you, but Worm may have a point, do a little double check of your overall app to check for anything red flags.

You have good numbers, you will get in somewhere in the T14. I would apply to more than just those schools though if you can afford to. You should definitely send apps to Cornell, Michigan, and Stanford for example.

All my apps went complete in early/mid-November, and I haven't heard back from anywhere yet. 166/no GPA, MA URM.

Hi all--- I guess I'm checking in. I need advice. Sent in an app with my low LSAT (160) score but figured I would get waitlisted (at best) and also signed up to retake in February. Admissions sent me an e-mail that they'd like to hold my app for February score but that's really late to be considered, right? Not sure if I should consider asking them to review app with the low score? Although I don't think I have a chance with that score... Torn. Also my lsdas gpa is not so hot. Thanks in advance!

Where are you currently PTing? Do you think you can do better (even if by a few points) on the Feb LSAT?

I guess when you registered for February you assumed schools would review while waiting for an updated score. Many do not as your application is viewed as incomplete.

I suggest you try your best to do well in February and once the score is received, let them review your application.

Admittance won't be as large an issue as $$$ given how late in the game you'll be reviewed.

Keeping in mind that score improvement comes from self-study (drills, practice tests and review of your work), I personally found Manhattan LSAT books to be far superior to PS, especially for LR and LG.

Powerscore has been really working for me. Some people can just self-study, but that's not me. I actually have a private tutor from that company. I am deeply impressed.

Full-tuition Dean's scholarship offer at Virginia! Call from Dean Faulk, who began with an impromtu interview that was very unexpected (I was unprepared). He told me the committee was interested in a few questions (this was a bait and switch). He then said he didn't have to meet with them and I was accepted. Then, I asked about the scholarship process and he awarded me the Dean's Scholarship!

Exciting news. Congrats on the scholly! Is that with no stips?
