Caught that wait list at Northwestern today. Not sure whether I should hold my breath over Duke, Cornell, GULC, & Texas and I'm still hesitant to take Vandy at near sticker when I know for a fact I can raise my score next year.

The idea of retaking for next year is becoming more and more appealing.

you definitely should, you aren't many points from HLS becoming a very real possibility

totally agree. with that GPA, you're a shoo-in if you get your LSAT at 165+

I think if you are confident you can score higher, you may as well deposit at your best option, retake in june, and decide in july whether to sit out.

I def think a retake is the right course of action here, a few points could be huge with that GPA, but we should be careful with the "shoo-in" language. It is misleading. I think 165 gives you a good chance, but it doesn't guarantee anything. (take it from me)

point taken. i don't want to circulate wrongful assumptions or make anyone overly confident. still, i definitely agree that OP should retake. any upward movement could help significantly.

I'd prefer to wait until October, so I'll be damn sure I have enough studying in (7 months sounds a lot better than 3) and spending hundreds on a seat deposit that I might not end up keeping... idk.

Principe, take the year and study. I am taking that route and it's already paying dividends as: my scores have already increased, I got an amazing job to add to the resume, plus another year and some change to travel and do what I want. Plus, your apps will be in before Thanksgiving.
