Um, speaking of this last part... I was going to register for the February LSAT tonight... But now that I got a JS1... If I register, will I screw up my chances?

HLS only interviews strong candidates. So, if you have a JS1, then you have already been identified as an "admittable" candidate. Retaking is your choice. But, I imagine that having a new score two months after your HLS interview will have no significant impact on your decision. Some interviewees have been admitted the next day. So, I would be comfortable saying that after the interview, a decision would be made shortly.

However, if you want to bolster your credentials for another law school OR you just want to retake, then you should still retake. But, if HLS is your number one, you are 70-99.99% already in with a JS1. I made that statistic up, but I have yet to hear of ANYONE who had a JS1 and was rejected. GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS on your JS1!!!

I think he means that you'll probably get in all 3 of HYS. Probably the entire T-14.

You dont want to hear this but with yoru numbers you need to go, right now and look your application. Something could to be wrong, something so wrong that it could be a problem in other applications. Over the last few years they have been pretty good to URMs with your numbers. And of the dings in that link, I'm pretty sure most of them were not AAs.

No. It just seems like a straight up ding is a bad sign for the other schools I'm still waiting to hear from. Like Worm said, maybe there's something in my app that rubbed them the wrong way.

Yeah, I am not expecting much, I screwed around in UG and realize now how important it truly was. With that said, not expecting anything from t-14 I did send a few reaches to UVA Georgetown and Northwestern. Really hoping for some success at a t25.

You dont want to hear this but with yoru numbers you need to go, right now and look your application. Something could to be wrong, something so wrong that it could be a problem in other applications. OK, maybe they're just being really picky regarding URMs this cycle. Still, dayum.

Penn seems historically rough for URMs according to myLSN. I mean, with a 3.5/163, you are still below both medians and Penn isn't exactly known for being holistic. If anything, they're one of the major hard numbers T14s, which is probably why they YP more than almost another school save Michigan and UVA.

Still, with such a limited number of AAs to go around a straight up ding is really weird. Any glaring weaknesses - bad LOR, unexplained gaps in resume or education, C&F issues - could've done the trick. Though if that were the case Berkeley, GULC, or Michigan would've picked it up as well I would think.

Tough break. Hopefully the rest of your cycle goes well.
