I know at least a couple of us got a package from Yale basically asking us to apply because we're diverse, but did anyone else recently get an email from a current student?

*Adjusts Jalen Rose jersey* Nah i dont think HYS would sway me although id really like it if H let me in. Getting paid to go to law school sounds too good to pass up. Plus Michigan seems like a great place to be, everyone ive talked to from there seems fantastic.AshburtonGrove wrote:jnwa wrote:Came on to say good luck to everyone...im pretty sure my cycle is essentially over now. #1 CONGRATS!!!!! To get paid to go to law school, and a great one at that?! You won the game!jnwa wrote:*Adjusts Jalen Rose jersey* Nah i dont think HYS would sway me although id really like it if H let me in. Getting paid to go to law school sounds too good to pass up. #2, and just for sh*ts and giggles, IF you happened to be someone who would qualify for full need aid at HYS, then you're talking about something like $140k in debt coming out. Is H's stronger placement, prestige, etc .worth $140k if you have typical goals? I mean straight LPs at Hs get $160Gs is the saying, whereas ending up below median at Michigan is a scary place to be, but maybe not so much if your only costs are opportunity costs. I know that M is probably still the right choice in this scenario, but I don't think its a slam dunk, "duh!" kinda choice.
#3, CONGRATS AGAIN!

I think id still take Mich. Worst case scenario I end up below median with little debt. It'd suck but I'd find a legal job and be mad at myself for not working hard enough during law school.fliptrip wrote:#1 CONGRATS!!!!! To get paid to go to law school, and a great one at that?! Worst case at Harvard i LP to 160g it and have to pay off 150k minimum which shackles me to biglaw for as long as it takes to pay it off.
Best case scenario at Mich I get biglaw and little debt. Best case scenario at Harvard I get prestigier biglaw and 150k in debt. And I'm still shackled to biglaw for as long as it takes to pay it off.
I'm k-jd and while biglaw is what I want right now, I'm fully aware of the possibility that I might hate it. While everyone speaks about the "opportunity" HYS offers I feel like no debt offers more freedom. If I wanted academia or clerkships(I'm Canadian) then I'd probably think a lot harder about it though.

Checking in! Completed all my apps on Friday.
160 LSAT - 3.4 GPA
English is not my 1st language & I'm fluent in 2 other languages
Softs include: tutor for elementary children, officer positions in SGA, PAD & BLSA, interned at a law firm 2-3 days a week for 2 years, & am currently working full time as a Legal Assistant
Staying optimistic about my cycle
Congrats to everybody who has already gotten acceptances and offers!

Checking in to this thread. I'm 43 doing a career change. Yesterday was my first and hopefully only LSAT. I would have been the oldest in the room if it weren't for a woman in her 70's. She had pigtails with ribbons in her hair (I shit you not). She was funny though and very friendly. Anyway, hello to all!

Hmmm...only big difference is that Penn Yield Protects on highly qualified URM applicants. If you are 3.5/162+, you're in the danger zone for their YP hammer, so I hope you indicated some specific Penn interest in your application.Navrim wrote:Checking in...so far in at Emory and WashU with full rides and Duke via PT. Nervous about the rest of my cycle! I'm from the NorthEast so I just wanna hear from someone around me lol.
No rejections as of yet and I'm 3 for 3. Just went UR1 at Penn. Anyone know how favorably they look at URM's?
