Just wondering - can anyone explain the advantage of the Law SEO program? From what I read on their website they set you up with an internship before law school? Is that the gist of it? Does it look to jobs in the future or does getting into the program somehow make you a better law school applicant? Or are there any other amazing advantages that I'm missing?

It doesn't make you a better applicant because you must place a seat deposit at a school and notify them of where you'll be attending before they will accept you.

We need more details about benefits please?

This is a wonderful opportunity that I wish I had jumped on. It’s essentially a program that recruits 0Ls during the admissions cycle, interviews each applicant, awaits your final school acceptance, and then if they want you, will place you in a great, and I mean GREAT firm! I know people who worked at Jones Day, S&C, Fried Frank, Weil, etc. Not only will you get paid approx. $2000/month (fact-check pls?), but if you do a great job you will receive an offer to return for your 1L summer! That’s a 1L summer job secure before you even start 1L and puts you in an awesome position for 2L OCI if you want to explore other options. Finally, and most importantly, you’ll be able to use all your money earned from three summers to pay down your tuition debt (if you have any!) DO. IT. Apply!!! I really, really wish I had! Would have made my life much easier during 1L knowing I already had a firm job

Thank you for bringing this up. I'd heard people talking about SEO before, but had no idea what it was. For some reason, I thought it was the same as CLEO. After looking up the information on the organization, i'm definitely going to try and apply.

It's similar to the FAFSA. A lot of schools require it for need based scholarship consideration.

Thanks for the info! I might apply. Does anyone thinking having a full time job will impact your acceptance? Slash whether I'd have to quit to take advantage of SEO? My job actually ends at the end of june and I didn't plan on leaving any earlier than that.

The SEO program starts at the end of May, near Memorial Day, and I don't there are exceptions to this because you have training and networking events, about 10 weeks with the firm, and law school sample classes to attend. I feel it would be more beneficial to use the summer for SEO since you will have multiple experiences which will be beneficial to your time in law school and as you apply and interviews for jobs, but that's just my take.
