All I was saying is that the cycle might be more forgiving to late apps. Totally unsubstantiated though
Don't think it's unsubstantiated: There's been another significant drop in applications and LSATs administered. It's not unreasonable to assume that this will slow the cycle down. Plus there's already preliminary indications that schools are approaching this cycle cautiously, namely, Harvard's relatively late initial acceptances.

Last cycle many schools extended their deadlines (ostensibly due to weather cancellations, which was probably just a convenient excuse to get their applications up). Don't be surprised if it happens again.

Eta, congrats LC. Surprised they didnt WL out of insecurity
Totally agree re: all of this. The drop in applications, LSATs, and high scoring applicants indicates this will be a nice cycle, albeit a slow one.

TY Neurotic, I don't know how I escaped the WL hammer but I'm so grateful. I was very nervous during the weird webcam recording/interview and it was definitely a lackluster performance so my suspicion is they really just were testing me to see if I'd do it.

Grats LC! What would you need from Cornell to even consider attending?

Also, interviewed for SEO today via Skype, feel free to PM with any questions.

Also gearing up for final February retake starting today. Groan.

Hey guys, I've been pretty MIA.

One of my schools requested an updated transcript, but my GPA might have fallen from a 3.75 to a 3.7/3.69 this past semester. I spoke to LSAC and they told me that an updated transcript would be sent to ALL schools, not just the school that requested it. Is the difference between these GPAs negligible? Or should I avoid having the updated transcripts sent?

Thanks

I'd update it. Some schools might be waiting on your fall grades anyway. GPA dropping is obviously something we don't want, but 3.7 is still good.

What about if it dips to a3.68, I feel like the 3.7 is a distinctive number. Ah this is unnecessary stress

A 3.68 is not that much different from a 3.70...

Anyway, how would you even avoid updating it? Seems silly because it'll only prevent you from being considered by the school that requested the update. And like convoy said, who knows if more schools are waiting to see them.

Objectively speaking, of course you're right, but you never know. What if the LS' GPA Median is 3.69? They might see that .01 as being quite significant. As someone with a 3.79, I can definitely empathize with how OP feels.

Either way, I agree that you should send the updated transcripts, as long as it's a school you would seriously consider. If it's really far down your list, you could make a case for withdrawing from the school that made the request and riding your luck with your other schools. But then, you run the risk of another school asking for an updated transcript. Nevermind, don't play games, just send the transcript and prosper.

Do u have a link to the drop in applications?
I guess with the December lsat still pending the number won't be complete. I feel like schools are waiting to have a better picture of the application pool.
Hope this cycle brings wonders :D

Yes! Duke wants to see my fall grades and I will be sending them in whether my gpa goes up or down.

Also...I just remembered that we (jawbreakaz and I) are literally numbers twins and both AA. So yeah we will probably have similar outcomes unless you retake. because 3.7 is so close to many schools medians, they are going to want to see fall grades to see if you fall below or rise above. Whether or not falling below will have any real consequences, no one knows.
