Just to comment on the earlier topic. I'm not a T-14 or bust person and never have been. I'm not going to any T-14 at sticker price, including Harvard and Yale. I refuse to take on 200K + debt just for the sake of saying I went to a T-14, which is why among the schools I'm applying to include my regional schools + Emory, because I would take Emory with money over HYS with none, but that's just me. So the whole, taking on debt just to say we're better than the "others"... whatever that means is false.

Same here! Applied early December to most of these schools and I've only heard back from NYU and GW (with good news)! I've got my NU interview this week but I'm hoping for more movement soon.mandyjay11 wrote:Every-frickin-where Cornell, Penn , UVA, NYU, Harvard, W&M, Emory, Chicago, USC, Stanford, Michigan, Duke, GULC, & GWokaygo wrote:Where are you waiting on Mandy?

I think people go to T14s for jobs. In professional services (law, accounting, banking, etc.) clients tend to hire those with the best credentials:

I know I would not go to a T14 just so I can think I am better than others. At the end of the day, I am going where my GPA/LSAT score can get me that has the best chance of employment. Whether that is Harvard Law or West Virginia University. If I can land a job at a firm with more than 25+ attorneys, I will consider myself successful.

Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
Yeah I would. I mean, for me, I just think my chances are significantly better to land a job in the south while going to Emory to pay off my debt, than hoping that I'd land a job to pay off 200k+ just based off of HYS's prestige. I mean say, for instance, I land bottom of the class at Havard. What does prestige mean then? What does it weigh? Debt is the biggest factor for me. And considering that I'd more likely than not get significant money from Emory, rather than HYS, I would have to choose Emory.cheaptilts wrote:Checking in as someone who has applied to pretty much all of the T-14 (minus Yale and Michigan) as well as strong regionals such as Emory.toshiroh wrote:Just to comment on the earlier topic. I agree 100% with almost every you said except...
...Would you really take Emory "with money" over HYS with none? I would think that would be a foolish decision only because with a half scholarship, Emory would still run you at least $120,000 a year according to their estimated CoA...maybe marginally lower if you would be living at home. I would think your chances of landing a job that enables you to pay off 234,000 that Harvard would run you...far...far exceeds the chances of you landing a job that would pay down the 120k from Emory. It's pure conjecture but I would think...
This was way too long of a "first in a long time" post
With that said though, still holding out for NorthWestern, Cornell, And Upenn lol

I wish I knew someone at Emory to talk to, though. I applied and I have no clue what the culture is like there.

Did anyone in here use a professional service to put together their application?
