I answered it with schools that were comparable to the school whose app I was filling out.Black_Swan wrote:okaygo wrote:No I didn't answer that question.Black_Swan wrote:Did anyone answer lsac app question to list other schools applying to?
Also what format is best for uploading essays? I was initially told by lSAC that files would be uploaded as JPEG but there is no such option.
And just use word. (.doc)
Thanks all!

I answered the question completely and honestly. It didn't hurt that I was mostly applying to peer schools, I guess, but I had no desire to try to ply mind games with adcomms by only listing certain schools that would for some reason make them want to admit me. I don't even know what those would be. Anyway, Dean Perez (and I believe Spivey but I can't recall exactly, I'd need to look it up) said to disclose in full and I trust their advice.Black_Swan wrote:Did anyone answer lsac app question to list other schools applying to?

Upload your files as .doc/.docx. I think they also take .rtf. Just make sure they aren't .pdf.

Big scholarships at schools with median of 164 and below, probably.

He loves it there! He's not used to the weather haha but he really enjoys his classes and he's made a lot of friends and connections. He doesnt find it at all conservative (like I thought it would be) and he's already been offered some SA positionscaliforniauser wrote:

Only had to solicit from Columbia and GULC. GULC said yes, Columbia laughed in my face.

Black_Swan: I would either answer the question completely and honestly (as midnight suggested) or leave it blank. I'm doing the latter, especially at schools that YP. Not trying to pay my $100 only to get WL'd at UVA or Penn.midnight_circus wrote:I answered the question completely and honestly. I listed schools but only those lower ranked when compared to the law school I was applying to. So far, so good. I have yet to be waitlisted or denied by schools who requested this information.

It couldn't really hurt you early cycle because the schools have no way of verifying where else you applied to. This changes layer in the cycle and, while I doubt it, a school could reverse engineer when you applied to x or y, compare with your application, see the discrepancy and shaft you on $$$. I doubt this would happen but I also don't see a reason to lie or not disclose on that part of the application.AAJD2B wrote:I listed schools but only those lower ranked when compared to the law school I was applying to. Since when is deciding to not provide full disclosure equated to lying?? It can only be lying if I lied about where I applied.MikeSpivey wrote:It couldn't really hurt you early cycle because the schools have no way of verifying where else you applied to. As for providing full disclosure, there is always the possibility an applicant made a decision to apply to more higher-ranked law schools after the fact whether early or late in the cycle. There is also the possibility an applicant changed where s/he decides to send his/her app out. Where is the falsity in that?
At the end of the day, this whole process is about wheeling, dealing, bargaining, marketing and schmoozing where applicable. You just have to be smart about it.

I didn't say "you lied"
2. "there is always the possibility an applicant made a decision to apply to more higher-ranked law schools after the fact whether early or late in the cycle. There is also the possibility An applicant changed where he decides to send his/her app out."
I said "reverse engineer WHEN you applied"
3. "At the end of the day, this whole process is about wheeling, dealing, bargaining, marketing and schmoozing where applicable. You just have to be smart about it."
Agreed. I'm not sure you are being smart but I was speaking for generic advice, not you as an unique and beautiful snowflake. Again, though, I think it is unlikely it will hurt you. I'm just not sure why one wouldn't disclose where all they are applying early, as later you would use am admission to a higher ranked law school to leverage more scholarship money from that school anyway.
But to each their own.
