yay! i'm so happy this thread is back!
I'm not really sure how many gays we have in our 1L class, but in my section of 100, there are probably 3 gays, 2 lesbians, and 1 anti-gay closet case. The Outlaw group isn't very active, so I've been kinda doing my own thing when it comes to gay stuff. Austin's gay community is pretty large considering the city's size and location, and you always have Dallas and Houston visitors populating the 5x20 iphone screen.

Tons of gays at HLS (I went to H undergrad). The outlaw parties were usually pretty fabulous.

Northwestern has 6 or 7 out gay men in the 1L class (I'm counting the AJDs that started over the summer) and 7-10 lesbians. They put almost all of us in the same section.

You're all in the same section? WTF? Was that a coincidence or a conscious decision?D-hops wrote:Northwestern has 6 or 7 out gay men in the 1L class (I'm counting the AJDs that started over the summer) and 7-10 lesbians. They put almost all of us in the same section.

Not sure. Apparently it happened last year too. I wasn't out in my application so my placement was probably random, but otherwise I would imagine there is some element that is not random.src42 wrote:You're all in the same section? WTF? Is there a LGBT boost?
I ask because some schools ask you right out in the application if you identify with the LGBT community, which I dont see a reason to ask except to give you a boost, or discriminate against you (which is unlikely since admissions offices are pretty liberal most of the times).

I'm in the process of applying to law schools. I was at a club last night in DC, and this guy keeps eye f**** me and later on comes up to me and my friends and starts talking to us, he was pretty cute... my friends ask him where he goes to school, he says Gtown law, and all of a sudden my friend is like, "oh my god", my friend over here is applying to gtown law right now. He responds "Oh cool. What's your LSAT score, I'll tell you if you can get it or not"....
Sorry guys, but "What's your LSAT score" is not an appropriate pick up line in the middle of the dance floor at Apex, no matter how cute you are.

Someone who asks you what your lsat score is on the dance floor is most likely not a good f***.

This thread makes me grateful to have a boyfriend (though it probably won't continue to 1L since I'm most likely changing locations). I guess law students only have time for studying and quick tricks?

Huh. I don't know what to think about that. Do you know if they do it via the information provided your CRS profile, or do they go by whether you mention it in your application? Do they do the same type of clustering thing with other groups?YCrevolution wrote:UVA put the majority of last year's LGBT 1Ls (no gay 1Ls this year) in the same section.src42 wrote:You're all in the same section? Well, that is a little fishy. Worst case scenario you are in the most fun section at the law school.

There are a lot of students from previous application cycles here, but I'm curious where applicants for this admission cycle are applying.
I'm applying to Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, USC, UW, ASU, Utah, Illinois, Emory and Tulane. Little concerned about going to Emory or Tulane, but I got fee waivers, so I went for it. Anybody else?
