Sounds like you got material for a killer PS or DS. It's got to be a pain in the ass every-time you identify as Peruvian someone has to remind you that you look Japanese and follow up with questions as if you might be mistaken about your own identity.Kên wrote:No, I'm not Japanese. A long long time ago my great grandparent's grandparents (or something like that, not really sure) left Japan for Peru, so I have no ties to Japanese culture. If you are not mixed, correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't qualify as Hispanic, do you?

I'm a Cuban American with a Hail Mary out to Harvard, 171/3.43. Does anyone know the amount of Hispanics who get over a 170 on the LSAT each year?

Wow!!!!! Congrats that is so awesome.
On another note I guess I know why Cubans are not considered Under Represented in the law school admissions process as I am a Cuban American as well. Oh well what a bunch of overachievers!!!

Do you think having a Mexican heart enables you to check the Hispanic box? Let's hope the state bar thinks so when it comes time for C&F.

sometimes this make me a little upset when I see that minorities are so dominated in this country that student use thier race to introduce themselves for admission in top schools. I wonder when jewish population first crowded manhattan, did they face same race issue as everybody face today? or it is just the time especially when US has non-white president. No matter where you go race comes first.

Okay, I'm sorry, but I have to ask: your ancestors moved from Japan to Peru about 150 years ago, you have 64 Japanese great-great-great grandparents, and they abandoned their Japanese culture?Kên wrote: No, I'm not Japanese. I'm sure it was more of an evolution. Ethnically Japanese, culturally Peruvian. Makes sense to me.Careless wrote:Okay, I'm sorry, but I have to ask: your ancestors moved from Japan to Peru about 150 years ago, you have 64 Japanese great-great-great grandparents, and they abandoned their Japanese culture?Kên wrote: No, I'm not Japanese. Re: Hispanic Harvard 2010
There are two possible ways for that to happen: 1) they imported brides from Japan, and 2) they carefully and strictly bred among themselves in the small Japanese Peruvian community. Neither one is culturally Peruvian.
