Good luck guys
I'm not applying for SEO (can't leave my current job before the summer, can't leave my SO who's not finishing school until mid-June) so I'll just be URM Team Mom cheering on everybody else!

Re: 2015 SEO Corporate Law Applicants
Hi,
Would someone please let me know what's the net or gross pay per pay check looks like (2K bi-weekly, 5k monthly, etc).
I have a good job and although the internship would be nice, I may be able to save more money by keeping my current job through the summer.
TIA

While you may make more money in your current job you might look into the number of people that do SEO that successfully find 1L SA's. Obviously money is a concern but if biglaw is your goal, SEO could have an impact on that. Just my .02 and a question I have asked myself.DiniMae wrote:Hi,

I haven't gotten anything! Except for an invite to join Linkedin... Which I already am a part of. That sucks, I was really hoping for this one!

Re: 2015 SEO Corporate Law Applicants
Do not keep your current job because of money, or thinking staying put is a better choice. It is not the better choice.
SEOs get paid $2400-$3200 bi-weekly depending on the firm, so it shouldn't be much of a sacrifice financial (if at all). Also, there is nothing you can do the summer before law school that confers as much of a benefit as SEO. Nothing. If you want to go to a firm, do SEO. If you want to do public interest, do SEO.

Nope, anyone can apply. Just go to their website and create an account. They do send out invitations to apply, but those aren't required.gamerish wrote:Sorry if it's a dumb question but from the way people are talking about it it sounds like SEO is something you have to be invited to apply for. Is that correct? I thought any URM could apply for it during the admissions process (according to Gaia's Guide to URM Admissions).

Checking in..working on my application. I received email and snail mail invite from SEO. I have been going through SEO threads on here snd consensus seems like the program is avid about T14 candidates. I applied to 2 T14, and haven't got a decision yet. Got into Vandy and Wash U, which are not T14. Should I bother applying? How does the program take into account LSAT score? I did not see info about this on SEO website.

Re: 2015 SEO Corporate Law Applicants
Your LSAT score seems to only matter insofar as it reveals how likely you are to get into a school they accept applicants from. Since no offers go out until ppl deposit, the program interviews largely based on your stats (though some don't get interviewed until after they get accepted somewhere. A lot of that depends on the timing of your law school apps).Jamdung wrote:Checking in..working on my application. I received email and snail mail invite from SEO. As for your "should I apply" question, while I haven't heard of SEOs from Vandy or Wash U, the program regularly takes a good number of students from GW and UT, so T14 isn't a hard line. A caveat to that would be that SEO generally places those kids in the DC or TX markets respectively. Going to a non-T14 seems to not be an issue if you are trying to get into a legal market that hires those applicants. Saint Louis and Nashville aren't SEO affiliated cities, so I'd imagine it would be a steep uphill from those schools.
PM me your stats and I can give you more specific advice. I'm a bit taken aback that you only applied to 2 T14 schools as a URM. You should apply to Columbia down just as a matter of general principle.

+1. Check the spreadsheet over at the URM c/o 2018 thread for current examples. You will be pleasantly surprised.txdude45 wrote:Your LSAT score seems to only matter insofar as it reveals how likely you are to get into a school they accept applicants from. My utterly inexpert two cents would be to check for and/or solicit fee waivers and carpet bomb the t14 schools you skipped
Anybody catch the SEO webinar today? Got an email 30 minutes before it started and of course couldn't make it on that notice.

I don't think there are any priority deadlines. But I think there are deadlines each month until they no longer accept apps.wsag826 wrote:I applied like two and a half weeks ago? I'm a little bummed because I applied 11/1 and haven't gotten a request. I did talk to a rep on the phone and she asked me questions; but I told her I got accepted to a T50 and she didn't seem too pleased. lol. I hope they look at my updates in the law school section to see I've been accepted to other schools now. idk
