I assume the firms get some kind of say in who they choose. And while there aren't a lot of URMs at T14s, there are still more than 90 which I think historically has been the number of slots, so someone has to get rejected. WE, GPA, Undergrad prestiege... anything could go into it.

Plus if you pick, for example, Chicago and DC which have ~20/25 slots between the two, with Chicago having like 4 max, then your chances are smaller than picking NYC and DC.
In my interview I was told that firms dont have a say in what interns they get. They do however get to say which schools they would be willing to take interns from.

It looks like last year the first acceptances were reported this week. I think it was the 14th.

Yup. Especially because we are about 6 weeks out, and regardless of where I am going I am moving and need to find housing/prepare to ship things places/buy plane tickets...
Right I need time to find a different summer job if this one isn't going to work out...
+1000. I've started submitting applications for summer internships and other programs. I reallllly hope SEO works out though

I asked during my interview. I think she said - typically around a week, but everyone will hear back April 28

I asked some alum from the program. One is a URM from Fordham (not a t20), but was able to get one in NYC. He basically said the same thing - URM + HYS = sure thing; URM + rest of t13 + Georgetown = good chances; URM + t20 + strong regionals like Vanderbilt, emory, etc. = 50/50, and URM + lower ranked t1 = rare, but you'll see a few Howard, GWU, etc. in the mix.

I think the firm thing is huge. A lot of NYC firms are prestige whores and only recruit from t13s, so I feel like that would be a huge factor. But I feel like resume + future success matter, so GPA and LSAT might be considered. My second interview was like heavyyy on questions related to success in law school and previous academic success I feel like. Like I get the sense they (obv) want successful IL + 2L and future law partners and associates so they're careful about choosing people that will thrive and do well at the firms and then after

Does the second interview focus on firms at all like the first one?

Yes - she had notes from my first interview, but wanted me to explain again.

The program director seemed hella personable. She seems like she would be interesting to meet and get to know.

Any other specific questions y'all remember interview next week, have been preparing like crazy for this moment! So nervous?

Someone mentioned above they wanted to know about your undergrad coursework? Like what specifically? Projects, writing samples,?

As long as you answer honestly and don't forget why you applied/are somewhat cognizant of what's on your resume - you should be good.

What they ask is all dependent on you as a candidate and what you said during the first interview so it's not a set, "We have 5 of the same questions to ask every single person."

It looks like this time last year is when decisions started to trickle in. NYC seemed to come first, then other regions. I'm on pins and needles here.

Like the other people who asked when we'd hear back: the interviews are until the 16th so people should hear back sometime *soon* (which could be until the end of April or the date when deposits are due which is the 28th). They are comparing people by region so if NYC people are done early, then they should be hearing back soon.

but screw NY, I want to hear about other regions more lol

Edit: also it's difficult to compare to last year because there's now a new director, everyone received 2 interviews, and the deadline was pushed back

It sounds like there were a number of 2nd interviews last year as well, but I agree, given the new director and the different process, we seem to be on a different timeline. I just need to know soon so I can quit my job and move across the country in enough time.

This is the last forum I'm obsessively refreshing, I know everything else, this is just the last piece.

A lot of people are concerned about finding housing for SEO if they get it.. and I definitely empathize with needing to know asap so I can quit my job (I wanted to give about a month's notice because small market, and might want to be rehired in the future)

I was under the impression that we had to have proof of a deposit to get a final answer. Can we be accepted without first depositing?

I'm happy to spend $600 on a Columbia deposit if I get this job, but if it's not guaranteed I'd rather save my money...

Your impression is right. Deposit first, then acceptance.

Yes ! I asked about this , you need to send in a seat deposit. They also ask for a confirmation letter.

I'm still so nervous because it seems like everyone except me got two interviews. It seems, however, that the point of the second interview was to be interviewed by the new director, who was my first interviewer. I'm just confused and worried about the fact that I didn't have two Interviews

The second interview was so the director could talk to us. If she was your first interviewer than she doesn't need to talk to you twice.
