Most likely WL/Ding at Columbia after all of today's madness. URM splitter has not been a hope inducing self-description this cycle.

Re: 2011 - 2012 URM Application Cycle
so i have a general question..when i look at lsn and see URMs accepted to t-50 and even t-14 schools, but yet they withdraw and attend Howard..is there something magical about howard that I do not know about???..i was just accepted and was thinking of automatically withdrawing since I've been accepted to mid- 1st tier schools but should i actually consider Howard?
btw I want to go into Criminal Law and probably stay within the dmv area? I have chosen W&L as my school of choice, will this school get my where I want to go?

speaking of my own personal preferences...i was just admitted to W&L earlier today which I am estatic about..however I also applied to howard and if i get in i would seriously considering going to howard...for me it is a better fit..simply because it is in the locale i want to practice in (DC or NYC) and being the top HBCU...you get the same firms and more come to OCI as do all the t-14s...so many people consider a better option in regards to biglaw....given that I have heard contradicting reports to howard such that even though many firms participate in OCI only top 10 or 5 percent get offers....so I you should definately do your reserach when it comes to both schools but to be honest for crim and where you want to work W&L sounds like a great option for youanjmissy wrote:so i have a general question..when i look at lsn and see URMs accepted to t-50 and even t-14 schools, but yet they withdraw and attend Howard..is there something magical about howard that I do not know about???..i was just accepted and was thinking of automatically withdrawing since I've been accepted to mid- 1st tier schools but should i actually consider Howard?

You are jumping to conclusions....Columbia has clearly not made most of the RD decisions and i doubt they are gonna do anything about those who logged into the ASW. And the fact that only one urm on tls heard back is an indicator that decisions are still being made.FryBreadPower wrote:Most likely WL/Ding at Columbia after all of today's madness. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am keeping my fingers crossed that your logic is the correct line of thinking. Obviously I still have yet to hear back form Stanford and Yale (and Harvard...kinda). Congrats to you all - you all are amazing! I got my first acceptance today ( I was a December test taker and only applied Jan. 8th) - in at U of Miami. Also applied to Miami Scholars public interest scholarship which I'm waiting to hear back on. I blanketed basically the Top 30, so we'll see what happens
