Thanks! I sent most of my apps in the 3rd week of October. I heard back from both schools last week, so it was definitely loads faster than I expected.StringerSoprano_6062 wrote:Welcome! Did anyone hear from NYU, Harvard, UVa, Berkeley, etc. today? Or was today slow for URMs in general? I want to see if the whole "URMs hear later" thing is true or whether I've just been dinged from these schools

Thanks!

Georgetown: Submitted Oct 17
NYU: Submitted Oct 19 (went UR2 early November)
Didn't keep great track of complete/UR dates, but both went complete quickly.

Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
I don't think the URMs hear later thing is real. I mean...condensation is a URM and he heard back from schools. I've heard back from schools. I think we all have.
It's true that I haven't heard back from NYU, UVA, berkeley while others with my complete date have, but I'm below both medians for all of those schools, so it doesn't seem like it would make sense for them to admit me until they see if they get an app from another applicant with equal softs and better numbers. I also applied for specific scholarahips at NYU and berkeley, so I imagine they have to hold my app a bit to see the pool they have for those awards.
In the end, I think it's more of a "schools wait until later to admit splitters that hurt their medians and candidates that are only competitive based on soft factors" thing than a "URM decisions come later thing"...although unfortunately, there is a lot of overlap there =\
Are any of you early applicants who are above both medians for a t14 school that you're still waiting to hear from? (I know I'm not lol)

I definitely think that's the case, 180. I'm basically waiting for schools that haven't started admitting yet/a miracle.

Re: URM 2015-2016 Cycle Thread
Had my interview with Northwestern yesterday. It was super relaxed and has got me pretty excited about that school. Still agonizing over getting an interview request (UVA, JS1, etc.), especially since I applied to most schools a month ago
