Thanks, that means alot (I'm sitting on a B+/3.4ish GPA so my cycle success will totally depend on that darn 5-hour exam).

But with your 3.96 GPA, you're HYS-bound. Awesomeness.

Could be good news for everyone.
Thank you! I submitted on 9/29. Went complete at Harvard on 10/10. 3.78/161, did over the LSAT and sadly only got one point more.

I think that one point might be what got you the JS1, if so, worth it, no?

:o :D [/quote]

Totally worth it. I was about to register and try it again in February.

Why not, a bump of a few points could get you pulled off of the waitlist...if that fate happened to befall you
I seriously hope that's not the case. I would do it the third time, but it's such a painful experience I would rather not.

No pain no gain, boo.

Keep it in your back pocket...just in case.

A 161/3.8 JS1 at Harvard? Wow. Well done Islander, that is amazing.

If this trend continues, I may not have to have a full blown heart attack about my 170 (possibly higher with June retake)/3.7 cycle next year. Maybe just a mid-sized non-fatal heart attack.

Anyway, congrats and we're all wishing you the best.

In my defense, I was never particularly privy to much regarding law schools admissions, let alone the unique URM process, until exactly 2 months ago. I took the LSAT on a sub-par Kaplan book and 4/5 PTs. Then I stumbled upon this website, whereupon I found much better materials to study for the LSAT and found out that being half-AA male seemed to provide a significant boost in the process. Well now I know. lol

Of course, strive for whatever accomplishment you want for yourself but if i had a 170... i would not be retaking lol

Retaking for two reasons:

1) I figure if I can write the 170 without knowing the Bibles exist or without doing nearly the amount of PTs and drilling that most dedicated LSAT studiers commit to, I can surely do at least marginally better by doing those things. Especially if my aptitude for the test isn't bad, the learnable factors and speed/accuracy increase via practice can't hurt.

2) My dream school is Harvard, and LSN statistics over the last decade cites 3.6+/172+ as auto-admit for URMs, whereas 3.6+/170+ drops that chance down to about 80%. Studying hard and smart for a 2 point advantage, for a little bit of peace of mind? That's 6 months well spent for me.

In summation: I would rather control everything within my power during this admissions process that I possibly can. Then, wherever I get rejected, I'll know it happened despite my absolute, unequivocal best efforts.

Checking in.

LSDAS: 2.8 (ugh.)
LSAT: 162

Softs: MA, Navy vet, grad GPA (3.7 @ CCN), 5+ yrs work exp, president of a couple things in college and grad school, first in family, blah blah 2.8 still sucks.

Took the October LSAT, decided to roll through this cycle to see what happens. Worst case = June retake and next cycle.

Good luck, all!
