To think I actually went into this cycle thinking I would try to defer my acceptance to my top choice and work another year...I don't see that happening now.
Oh and congrats to those with acceptance this week!

Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
After another long ass week (which isn't over) working biglaw hours for shitlaw pay with my non-profit, I been thinking about this whole biglaw v. PI thing. I was wondering that since I have an extremely PI heavy resume, how hard will it be to actually be competitive for a biglaw job? Would SEO help? I didn't get it the last time around, so I was kind of hesitant about applying again with three scores this time.
I had lunch with an AA male attorney who's an alum of my ugrad and he was telling me that he felt that my resume was way too PI and I would set myself up for failure during OCI. He said even if I wound up with a biglaw job after law school that they would probably try to pigeon hole me into civil rights and pro bono work, and I would regret becoming "that Black guy." I'm kind of torn because I want to practice law and I'm interested in PI work but I don't want to be poor all my life (sounds bad but it's the truth) and I probably make close to what most attorneys working in PI make coming out now.

I'm definitely happy I didn't go straight to law school from undergrad, and I don't think it's wise for most people. By the time I matriculate I'll have been out of undergrad for 3 years, so I'm just ready to get back in school.ThePiedPiper wrote:+1 I am actually happy I sat out instead of going straight through to law school. Re: URM 2013-2014 Cycle Thread
I was looking through the 12-13 urm results thread and it looks like most people with 3.6+, ~164+ got on H's WL at least.
it'll take another go around to look at the date when these posters shared their results, but any idea of how well an applicant with #s in that range eventually gets off the WL?
there were a few people who got stanford but never got off H's WL despite having ~3.6, mid-to-high 160s.
also, any idea why twentypercentmore's unique situation (pretty sure it's common knowledge now but I won't say anything so as to not out him) hurts him so much? The 3.6 164 applicant I refer to above isn't helping most T14s on either number but still get in without a problem, so why s/he different from another applicant who doesn't help either stat?

My PS was 600 words, and my cycle has been going pretty well.
My bad, I didn't know it was mandatory for me to introduce myself. I guess being a URM applying this cycle isn't enough to post in a URM forum. Thanks for making that clear mojo. I'm KT.

My apologies, didn't know I had to legitimize myself to make a comment, though it makes sense. And thanks for the appropriate sentence stem Monk, ill be sure to use it next time.

Had about four dreams last night that I received a 164.... I don't think I would be too disappointed with that. Just two below my average....

I feel like I should be/wish I was hearing back from schools. But I just submitted 11/15-20, and a few went complete much later so I dunno.
Meh.

So everyone here knows I'm gunning for GULC/GW.
(And by extension Cornell/UVA for scholly negotiations if I can swing GULC)
But where do you people WANT to go? Just the highest T14 you can get?
