What's the deal with UChi?

How is it for minorities?

Anyone here have it as their number one?

I have a fee waiver sitting in my inbox, the idea of spending 3 years in the southside of Chicago isn't too appealing, but the OCI numbers are impressive.

Living in Chicago would be ideal but I've heard UChi is much more conservative and less laid back than NW. Since I've been out of school for multiple years, I'm not sure if I want to return to a super academic atmosphere like that.

I submitted my NYU app a few days ago and it already says under review. Could it really be under review that quickly? I thought there were "received" and "complete" phases where it just sits for a while.

That seems to be the norm for NYU. It said my application was "Under Review" two days prior to them sending me an email with the status check information. But, that may have been due to applying the week of Thanksgiving. No action since then.

It's only for 1st time test takers....

I thought February was only considered if it was a retake with app under review (e.g to get off waitlist) but for the first time they are accepting it from 1st time test takers and pushing the submission deadline to help smooth timeline.
Either way, I always believed if you are a 3.9 and 179, you will get in regardless.

RANT OF THE DAY: the girl below me is blasting music, the Saturday before finals week. And to top it off the white students are walking up and down my block drunkenly singing at the topic of their lungs at 6pm!! whaaaa!!

Use my advice with caution...
The little punks under our apartment usually play games/videos/TV really really loud at night. I mean 11 pm-3/4 am. We told the managers, and the behavior changed for a month or so, and resurfaced this week. Well, I took my pestle, the one I use to mash my plantains in the mortar, and thumped on the floor (their ceiling ). What do you know, the volume went down. Next day, I put a notice on their door ("Would you please...blah blah blah"). Mind you, this was after going down on several instances, knocking, and not having anyone show up at the door, even though there was clearly a person in the apartment. What do you know, later that evening, I found a notice on my door saying "I wasn't the one playing music, but I heard you knocking on the ceiling last night...". Hmmmm, right. But, noise has been nonexistent since then. I guess the "real" culprit somehow got my message. I would have dialed 911 in a heartbeat if they had continued with that mess.

Talk to the manager at your complex, and if the behavior persists after a warning, call the cops.

And I called the cops before but by the time they came she finally shut it off and denied everything. Pretended I didnt ask her three times to keep it down.

1. For some of my applications in the bio section, I can only add four digits of my SS# instead of the full #, is that normal? I would suppose it would be the last four digits if this is the case, but I'm unsure if I have some sort of glitch or something.

2. For Cornell's required who influenced you to apply to Cornell question, what type of answer did you put? I listed the name of a law professor who teaches there whose work is of particular interest to me. Other than that, I can't say someone in particular who influenced me to apply there...

1. For the apps I couldn't type in my whole SS# it was usually already listed from the first app you completed. Meaning you don't have to input the numbers anymore. You should see the last four digits of your SS# above the box.

2. For my Cornell app I listed a friend of mine who recently graduated from Cornell. And a current 2L at the law school.
