Does anyone know why they're "Revamping" the program. Did something happen?

Probably a great question for 2016 and 2015 cohorts, if they have any idea.us3rnam3 wrote:Does anyone know why they're "Revamping" the program. Did something happen?
I was going to straight out ask during my second interview to see what's going on.* My first interviewer explained that the SA etiquette and law school prep would be the first two weeks of the program this year (whereas last year the law school prep stuff was the final week) so...who knows.
*I'll post what's said when I interview next week.

So is it pretty much a given that we won't get the internship if we don't go to t-14? Does your app/LSAT play any part, or is it pretty much the school you choose decides it? Trying to see my chances if I attend USC.

I would assume if your school is on their drop down list in the application then you're ok. If its not you might have reason to worry. This may just be wishful thinking on my part...Assasindowntheavenue wrote:So is it pretty much a given that we won't get the internship if we don't go to t-14? Edit: maybe so people don't wonder about LSAT and school rank we could put together an anonymous chart of where people who are selected end up. I realize quantifying softs is difficult but maybe that can somehow be included (on the "average"/"unique" scale seen elsewhere on TLS).

I asked. The previous program was more like an internship and catered to K-JD. This program is more inclusive for non traditional students or people who took time off, and focuses more on preparing for school or something.renc56 wrote:Probably a great question for 2016 and 2015 cohorts, if they have any idea.us3rnam3 wrote:Does anyone know why they're "Revamping" the program. I posted the link earlier, but firms publish the data and profiles of the students they take. I think Harvard accounted for like 50, NYU for 30, and then t14 schools for around 8-12 each, and then 1-2 each for some strong regionals like Vandy, Emory, GW, etc. I do think it plays a role because these are huge law firms that typically prefer to hire from the t13, but obv if you have a strong application they would consider you regardless...renc56 wrote:People outside T-14 have and can get SEO.us3rnam3 wrote:I would assume if your school is on their drop down list in the application then you're ok. I appreciate that thank you. Was just wondering if it was a zero chance thing since I've only heard of UCLA being the non-t14 getting in recently.lilitiger99 wrote:I posted the link earlier, but firms publish the data and profiles of the students they take. I believe USC is 2nd only to UCLA for Southern California. In the whole state I think they're probably 4th behind SLS, UCB, and UCLA, though don't quote me lol.

Yeah I don't think a t20 would kill your app, but it probably would mean your resume and essay would matter. My friend that went to Fordham did it a few years ago, and he said he was the only one out of the t20 that placed. So I guess there's leeway if you have a good resume; interview, etc.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:I appreciate that thank you. How did y'all show deposits? I sent in a screenshot of email confirmation is that okay? And has anyone been rejected from the program yet? (Post second interview/deposit). Depositing at a T13, hoping for NY placement.

The last second interviews were on April 16 (last time I checked last week) and their e-mail about the second interviews said to interview asap because decisions will be rolling. So maybe they'll be giving out decisions the week of April 17-21.AJ1010 wrote:If i recall correctly, she said 2nd/3rd week of April.call-me-bubbles wrote:Did anyone who did their second interview happen to ask/get told when we could expect to hear by?
