though now I'm dreading what was supposed to be an easy/typical interview. oh well. I'll just be peppy af or something.
It wasn't a hard interview or unpleasant one, for me at least. It just was very dry and seemed unimportant. As previous people have suggested, it probably comes down to your stats and the school you get into a lot more than this interview. I wouldn't dread it, just don't expect much out of it

Nah man, not negativity. I had an inkling that maybe it was me or something in my application. Seeing that others had the same experience made my day better, because I don't feel it was all me.
I will still take SEO if offered, but we shouldn't put organizations above critique. If I were the director, I would be glad that I ran into this thread. Because I would have already found an area in need of improvement.

Idk I didn't really get that impression with her. We shot the breeze for few minutes before getting into the more law school/legal questions, and not to say she was overly engaged, but I definitely didn't get a vibe that she didn't wanna be there. Ymmv, I guess

My interviewer was actually super nice, she was a Brazilian woman, I don't remember her name. Has anyone had the second interview already? I'm curious if it will be the same questions in regards to why law, pitch me the two firms you'd like to work at, etc.

It seems like everyone else's interview went badly? Who did you guys interview with? Because I interviewed with the new director, Van Ann Bui and it was an extremely conversational and fun interview

When I interviewed, she said she was doing all of this year's interviews. I guess they subsequently added a second interview round, and now all of those are being conducted by Van Ann Bui, per the email sent out a couple days ago.
Interesting.

I did but from what i've read it seems like 100's of people apply and only a few get it.But i don't know how people hear about it, if a girl at an open house didn't tell me I wouldn't have known.

Former threads of 2016 and 2015 are helpful to look at. Not everyone from HLS gets it but it's skewed toward HLS and NYU..at least according to TLS data.
Edit:
http://www.top-law-schools.com/urm-appl ... grams.html
"The program is quite selective; by utilizing LSAC's CRS (Candidate Referral Service) and yearly college visits, the SEO recruits more than 600 applicants for the Corporate Law program each year. In previous years, the acceptance rate has hovered around 10-13% according to SEO officials; however, the current economic climate is likely to alter the number of spots available within the program. Additionally, the program's notoriety has permitted them to select most of their interns from the "Top 20" law schools, as dictated by U.S. News and World Report's ranking system."

Some data from the 2012 cycle. 50 came from Harvard, 30 from Columbia, 8 from Cornell, 6 from Michigan,
1 from Howard, etc.
Guess people weren't kidding about them being elitist
And did anyone have the second interview yet? Have mine today and nervous.
I just quit my job unexpectedly and neeeed SEO

Has anyone had the 2nd interview yet? Was it just like the first or more casual?

I think the first ones were scheduled for a little later today if I'm not mistaken.

Had my 2nd, went really really well. A couple of behavioral questions, a critical thinking question or two, but it was just a very pleasant interview.

It went well! Ann is so nice, asked about undergrad, which law firm/practice area, and a legal hypo with some normal job interview stuff thrown in!

She's really nice. I had mine today and it was very smooth, the behavioral portion threw me a little
- I was in the car and didn't have a pen and paper . Overall I think the follow up is for her to see if we stand out or can be a good fit. I don't think she asked me what school I'm attending.
What do you mean by "behavioral portion"? Feel free to PM.
If you could also slide into my DMs with the answer to this that would be divine
