I think a lot more folks will start showing up Saturday afternoon after the LSAT. We just might have to go off topic in order to get this goin though because it's been pretty lame in here for a few months

Thread started in July. We are now on page 14 and it is nearly December. In comparison to the URM 2015-2016 thread, page 14 was in October. Is it possible that a bunch of TLS URMs are sitting this cycle out?

That's true. I keep forgetting the next LSAT is so soon. I think a lot of people are either in LSAT land or like me, telling themselves that checking status checkers every hour isn't going to change how quickly you hear back

Hm, I'm not really sure. Wish there was a way to know. Hopefully it's not a sign URM apps as a whole are going to be down. I really want to see more
minorities in the legal profession!

Wowowow. That's super awesome.
I have a similar GPA to you and a higher LSAT and have been freaking out about NYU because it's my top choice.
What do you think has been bringing your app over the edge?

I'm almost 6 years out of undergrad, and I'm PI focused. I also worked on my apps for 10 months. I had to make sure everything else about my apps was stellar since my numbers weren't.

Yes, working on the scholarship essay but haven't had the motivation to finish it.

Ah. I wonder how much the WE boosted your app... I know a lot of the schools like to see that. Either way, congrats! Any news on $$$ for you yet?

I haven't seen anything insisting it's a necessary thing to do.
I saw one poster who said for alumni interviews, it's okay but they probably won't ding you for not doing it but for adcomm, don't bother because "it's their job."
I haven't interviewed at all yet (need to do my N'Western internet interview tomorrow) so I haven't really decided how I feel.

I've been dreading trying to track down all my transcript stuff again. Think I might just do the two UGs I attended and then see if they want the transcripts for the CCs I took classes at during HS and stuff...
Haven't even looked at the scholarship essay prompt yet. Probably should soon since I seem to have written myself out of my writer's block that led to me submitting apps mid-Nov. rather than right after getting my Sept. LSAT score

No money yet but I applied for the scholarships at NYU so fingers crossed

yea the application is not fun. you also have to do a resume that you have to format specifically to how they want it. its not terrible but just something I'm lacking motivation for after all those school apps.

I've started that (maybe even finished, I don't remember)! It's currently my only Word document open. It seemed like one of the easier things to do since it's just plugging in info.

I am definitely a critic of some forms of affirmative action but this quote is very depressing:
""7,789 law school applicants who had both LSAT scores of 165 or above and UGPA of 3.5 or above. Of that number, just 63 were black. Only 236 were Hispanic or Puerto Rican."

I'm not included in the 63
But yeah, I mean, standardized testing can leave much to be desired. LSAT prep material is really expensive too for lower-class folks of any race.

True, but I think I'm making solid progress and I'm only using the PTs. The cost was about 100

the numbers are pretty sad. I always look at the breakdown of the class composition of each school on the NALP website and Stanford only had 4 black men in their most recent 1L class; that's up from 3 the previous year

That's good then. But if you ever wanted prep books like the Trainer or anything, those things add up quickly.

Yeah, that's really awful. Hopefully the increase is a good sign?

Where is this quote from? Not that I don't trust you, I just want to read over the study/whatever it's from out of interest.

I think its in the brief for the University of Michigan Supreme court case about affirmative action.
