Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
With that GPA and URM status the answer simply has to be retake and swoop in for the kill next cycle.MidwestTho wrote:Please advise: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 1&t=246789
Having done as well as you have with a single-take LSAT "closer to 153 than 160" should serve as a fair indication of what you could do with a legitimately competitive LSAT as far as admissions and aid. The presumptive lay preftige and schollies from a much-improved retake may even be more in line with your nebulous political goals in that, as to the latter, you'll have more freedom to up and leave practice instead of breaking yourself over the wheel of biglaw in service of debt and spinning away your youth and real ambitions in the process. If you don't really want a lifetime career in law, it'd behoove you to preserve every exit strategy you can, which means racking up as little debt as humanly possible. And at the end of the day you'll always regret any final decision you make in the absence of a serious retake effort, and rightfully so.
If you're dead set on matriculating this fall, I'd call around ASAP and beg for deposit extensions and expedited aid packages prior to making any decision.
Full disclosure: this is random two cents from unqualified internet guy. There are far more adept and experienced posters here. All that being said - I feel your pain (similar numbers) and wish you the best of luck.

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Okay, so...Berkeley ya'll. Took three horrific weeks of wrangling and planning with the fiance, who is thrilled despite the 2~ year LDR we're looking at. Final COA of about 80k assuming I don't tank my need package with SA work (Berk's formula is fairly generous, so not overly concerned). Super thrilled. Got to sniff Harvard and Columbia in passing even. Far more than this old timer anticipated a year ago.
Who else is heading to Boalt this fall?
