Is anybody else who is applying to NYU also going for the AnBryce?

Whether or not you get your LSAT in order, I have a very strong feeling you'll be going to a T14 come next yearLuBru wrote:Yeah I actually just got a fee waiver from UVA - I know that doesn't REALLY mean anything, but I'll take it as a good signEbonyEsq wrote: That said, I still think you have a decent shot at some T14s. I would still shoot an app to UMichigan, UVA, NYU, Columbia, Northwestern (they love work experience--assuming, of course, you've been working those 5 years), Cornell, Georgetown and Duke, to name a few. You still have some strong numbers that may get you some money with an acceptance from a T14. In fact, I think you have a very strong shot at Cornell and Duke. Even Georgetown. Just get those applications out ASAP.![]()
I have been working every second of the last 5 years doing administrative work for nonprofit organizations with some great strides in terms of advancement so I feel secure on that part of my application. Now I just have to get my LSAT in order! Thanks everyone for all the advice. I REALLY appreciate it.

All the best to you and please keep us updated on your admission cycle!

Read some advice on applying early decision from Anna Ivey:DorianGray89 wrote:Top choices are Duke and NYUEbonyEsq wrote:Any top choices? What schools are you currently looking at?DorianGray89 wrote:Question?

I think you should apply RD. You have a a very strong shot at both your top choices and the remainder of your schools.
Check a portion of NYU's acceptance from last year:

A number of URMs got in with lower numbers than yours.

Yes, definitely apply.LuBru wrote:Aww, thanks for the support! Boalt is really truly my number 1. I come from an arts background so part of me thinks they would like me because I'm atypical... Do you think it is worth it to shoot them an app this week with my current LSAT - or is that a waste of an app fee? I wish they weren't so crazy with the ultra early decision making!EbonyEsq wrote: Whether or not you get your LSAT in order, I have a very strong feeling you'll be going to a T14 come next year. Only reason you should resit is if you want more money or an acceptance letter from HYS. Other than that, you'll have a fruitful cycle, no doubt.

Last cycle's LSN data indicates Vandy and UMich could start making decisions at the end of this week..

I am thinking about it but don't want to embarrass myself. I definitely qualify for it. But I don't know. It depends for me on if NYU is going to view me as a URM or not...they seem more inclined to inclusivity in that regard. It is bugging the hell out of me that there is no solid ground really (again other than vanwinkles--maybe sometimes, maybe not other times, maybe not LOL) on non-white Hispanics that are not necessarily black and definitely not PR or Mexican. It's a tossup I suppose. I'm still angry that games got the better of me on this g-d LSAT.

Re: URM 2010-2011 Application Cycle
I don't think you'd embarrass yourself. If you get in (and you seem to have a chance) it won't matter which kind of minority you are when applying for the scholarship. It seems like a really great program; might as well send the essay in with your app!Sinra wrote:timmna wrote:Is anybody else who is applying to NYU also going for the AnBryce?

And, I agree about the games.

How long does it usually take from submitting an app on LSAC to being complete? (Considering all my documents are uploaded on LSAC and I'm not waiting on anything).
Thanks.
Thanks.

Depends on the school. Usually you will be complete within a few business days though.DorianGray89 wrote:How long does it usually take from submitting an app on LSAC to being complete? (Considering all my documents are uploaded on LSAC and I'm not waiting on anything).

I just started sending apps too. Have 23 fee waivers and many are from schools I can't see myself attending, but I did get the one I really wanted. Here's to hoping!

Re: URM 2010-2011 Application Cycle
As a URM, you should definitely apply broadly, with lots of reaches. I too have gotten tons of fee waivers, but didn't use probably 90%+ of them. I would probably aim for 15-20 applications, with most of those reaches and targets, if you can afford it. I would choose the top 15-20 schools you are interested in attending and have a chance at getting in, and not applying to other places simply because they give you a fee waiver. But congrats on the fee waivers, and best of luck on your cycle.LuBru wrote:Hey all, are you guys getting a TON of fee waivers? Originally when I first started to get them I assumed I'd apply to almost all the schools. But now I have received about 35 in the last week and am starting to feel overwhelmed. How is everyone sorting through all this? A few are from T20s and I will definitely apply, and a few are from really low schools that I can wipe off the list without a second thought, but a lot are from decent T1 schools - places I would attend if the money was great and some of my T20 prospects don't turn out. Do people really apply to 30+ law schools!? This seems excessive...
Oh and for those who helped me out earlier with my extremely low LSAT dilemma, I am not going to retake in December and will instead focus on getting my preferred apps in before Thanksgiving. While I know I can improve my score, I'm not confident that I can do it this December with the other things that will be going on in my work and home life. I won't lie though, the deluge of fee waivers has boosted my confidence a teensy bit. I know it doesn't REALLY mean anything, but I can't help it!
