Congrats wsag!
Sidebar: I got notified that I'm PR from Duke late last night -- I'm withdrawing of course. No tears or broken hearts over here.

You're right...you've got bigger fish to fry and we definitely know UChi is funny about that money.gold33 wrote:

Also, +1 to the UVA WL. Not really upset TBH.
ETA: And WL'ed at Chicago. But it seems like both schools are low on $$$ at this point anyway?

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Just had my Chicago interview...
My roommates were going to be overly loud (can't fault them), so I decided to conduct it in my school's workroom... My school has the technology to ensure that the lights go off when they don't sense motion, but not for the inverse... So I had to keep standing up to turn them on... My co-worker opens the door to the work room, and I give her the death glare until she picks up on the signal... Haha.

So far Chicago vs. Columbia depending on $. With the offers that I've received, I don't think there is any other lower t-14 that I could take over Cornell at this point.

I guess cornell is a little scared of crossing the 60k mark so they only raised their tuition like $600 (WHY COULDNT EVERY OTHER SCHOOL?!)

If your goals are big law, Cornell is a BEAST. Try negotiating or just ask for more. If they dont budge, I wouldnt turn it down for less that 90k at CC (Maybe 75k at Chicago since their tuition and COL is cheaper than Columbia.90convoy wrote:gold33 wrote:Yayyyy, Convoy! Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
I have a hypothetical for y'all...
It hasn't to me, but in case it does, I'd like to know what course of action to take.
If you were offered mostly loans, and you didn't accept the admission. Do you think you could re-apply and include an addendum in which you included that you wanted to strengthen your application to be competitive w/r/t schollies? Do you think that would mollify the adcomm? Just wondering as I hear back from other schools/receive financial aid packages.
Can someone explain why Cornell is beast at big law? I know that it's in New York, but I thought that pretty much all T14 had 50 percentiles over 160k (of course you're assuming big law is the cause)?
Also, does anybody know about the market in Texas? lol it's sad that I don't and I'm a Texan. However, it has a nice cost of living and it appears to be a state that has a lot going on with respect to economy... Certainly not 160k, but maybe 140k or so?
Again, my musings above are just preventative (lord forbid I incur any interest). I've heard horror stories about big law.
