Which schools are you visiting?cc78 wrote:Oh yes...I'm actually hitting the road starting this weekend and will see 5-6 schools over the next month.DiniMae wrote:Are you visiting outside of ASWs?cc78 wrote:
Yes, that's what I assumed too...but I've learned to try not assume.
And Gold, I have a couple of issues: (1) forced socializing is something I promised to disabuse myself of long ago; (2) I am naturally skeptical of any school's "show weekend". It's something that I've learned from my years in education--I don't want to see your school when you're ready for a bunch of folks like me to see it, I wanna see it when it's Tuesday in the dead of winter and everyone's exhausted. That to me says a lot more about what the place is really like.

^^I'd think you have a nice thing going with NCG...you don't feel confident you can get them up to where you need?

Sounds good. Although I'd think everyone will be considering all of those factors, so maybe it should be "choose top 3 factors?" Thoughts?DiniMae wrote:Hey LC, on one of your future polls, would you mind asking what people are using as determining factors for which school to attend (location, finances, partner, size, specific program, employment stats, etc.)?

Is UChi accepting more urms than usual? Wonder if this has anything to do with the lower number of applicants and if that may affect acceptances at higher ranked schools?90convoy wrote:hey everybody I know I've been m.i.a. AF lately, but I just wanted to congratulate everybody!

I've always thought UChi (and CCN really) were really good to URMs in terms of acceptances. Now, $$$ wise, I don't know. Some of us should be getting UChi scholarship offers next week sometime.Harvette wrote:

Congrats on the acceptances!canadianbrother wrote:Cycle is finished, just waiting on $$$
Waitlisted: MVPD
Accepted: NCG
Didnt write a why duke, and for MVP I mentioned peer schools and that I would choose them over peers at equal cost (stupid stupid stupid)
Most likely staying in Canada unless I get $$$$ (40k a year - i know, unlikely)
Why is 40k/yr unlikely though? I got the impression that N and C gave out a lot of $ to URMs in past cycles, and if you have all 3 to play off each other in negotiations, you seem to be in a good position.

Re: URM 2014-2015 Cycle Thread
Today the UT Austin system administrator determined that there was some suspicious activity with my account (unspecified as of yet), and locked me out of my gmail. Given that it was three quarters past the day (aka "ancillary"/lunch/recess), I could not contact them until after the day was over. It should be unlocked tomorrow midday, but it's still a very nerve wracking experience mid-cycle. So you can guess how I've felt all day. ^_____________^

Congratulations! I wouldn't call back if they left a voicemail. They probably have several other calls to make.jw316 wrote:In at T10 via phonecall! Missed the call but the Dean left a really heartfelt voicemail that just made me tear up a lil bit...and I normally don't do that. Said the voicemail would be followed up with an email/packet but what is the protocol? Do I call back and say thank you, etc.?
What school is it?
